Examples of accomplishments on projects that I worked on

- Amarah Master Plan Upgrade, Iraq. Comprehensive planning study to

identify the future development of the City within its regional context.

GIS tasks compromised satellite image acquisition, rectification for the

satellite imagery using it as a base map, database analysis and design

using UML,CASE tools and MS Visio for the existing conditions and the

future design for the city, converting tabular data into GIS format,

converting land use, water supply network, sewage water network,

telecommunication and power supply networks, road network into

Geodatabase format with respect to the correct topology rules, creating

final figures of the whole project in GIS format, and training the

client's staff on GIS use.

- Diwaniya Master Plan Upgrade and GIS, Iraq.

- Qasr Khozam Development, Saudi Arabia. Master plan preparation,

geological and hydrological analysis, environmental impact assessment,

traffic impact study, and infrastructure design for the comprehensive

development and urban regeneration of a 400 ha area immediately to the

south east of Jeddah central zone, taking into consideration Jeddah

local and strategic plans. The expected built-up area is 15,000,000 m

with a concentration on residential, office, commercial, hospitality,

leisure and mixed-use developments. GIS Tasks included data preparation

of the areas to be demolished during the development process, including

CAD/GIS data conversion using a complex geoprocessing model, QA/AC of

each parcel alignment in the GIS database, defining for each level its

construction material & boundaries within the building to make sure that

each owner would be compensated for the appropriate amount of money and

creating a report for each building.

- Procurement of Satellite Imagery for Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

Procurement of high resolution satellite data covering 740 km2 and 670

km2 of Madinah and Makkah cities respectively. Duties comprised applying

geometric correction techniques to the imagery data in order to obtain a

high positional accuracy and to rectify the errors that come with raw

data: Final product is a tiled digital file with an appropriate format

that could be manipulated by different engineering software.

- National Program for Small Dams - Lot 3; Algeria. Identification of

potential sites for small dams and hill lakes in the West of Algeria

(total of 84 sites) in order to study the feasibility of the proposed

development schemes (dams and irrigation systems); to evaluate their

cost and to define an implementation program A GIS database was created,

including the following specialized components to cover the 12 Wilayas

of the project: administrative features; old and new edition digital

scanned topographic maps at scale 1/25,000 and 1/50,000; geological maps

at various scales; hydrological network; roads and land use features;

Landsat satellite imagery; SRTM digital elevation model; ishohyetal

contours; hydrological and rainfall stations, etc. Moreover it includes

data related to water resources management: large irrigation systems,

large dams and existing hill lakes and small dams. Potential sites of

small dams and hill lakes are identified on topographic maps and SRTM;

Automatic delineation of hydrological basins and streams, extraction of

hydrological parameters; analysis of the area-capacity for those sites

are done using customized ArcGIS application and ArcHydro Tools. GIS use

included also; hydrological and rainfall parameters mapping; field maps

and report production.

- Erbil Base Map arid GIS, Iraq. Procurement of recent high resolution

satellite images covering Erbil City in order to prepare accurate base

maps for the City and to build a Geographic Information System for the

planning, Management arid operation of all the City's resources and

facilities. Services also included the implementation of a GIS unit

within the Ministry of Municipalities for the operation and maintenance

of the created GIS; procurement of hardware; software and GPS units;

training of the Ministry's staff; and providing a road map for GIS

development within the Ministry.

- Wadi AI-Zyhimi Recharge Dam, Oman. Feasibility study and preliminary and

detailed designs for a dam that is used to enhance the natural

groundwater recharge by a controlled infiltration of stored flood

events.

The dam is designed to store part of the flash flood water (which

normally flows through the different valleys into the Gulf of Oman), and

to release the water following the flood period in order to increase the

quantity of infiltrated water to the groundwater aquifer, expand the

storage capacity of the aquifer, and improve the quality of groundwater.

GIS Duties comprised review and analysis of previous data,

hydrological/hydro-geological studies, dam site selection, topographic

survey and site investigations, identification of dam type alternatives,

environmental assessment, economic evaluation, detailed cost estimation,

preparation of tender documents, and tender evaluation.
