while serving as the interim VPHR for Catholic Charities; served as
the interim VP for Human Resources for a $1 billion healthcare
organization in Tampa, Florida. Provided on-going consultation in

major social services agency with 900 staff and over 3,000 volunteers.
Participated in the merger of 4 Agencies (Kennedy Institute, Anchor
Mental Health Institute, Spanish Catholic Center and Catholic
Charities) into one organization. Specific responsibilities include
planning, and directing all Human Resources functions (including
Recruitment, Compensation, Benefits, HRIS, Professional
Development/Training and Employee Relations). Also supervise

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital served as a

employee Healthcare Consulting firm (Birch & Davis) in Silver Spring,

acute long term care beds and 120 bed nursing home in Washington, DC.
Also developed compensation programs for several Washington DC-based
not-for-profit organizations, and developed a comprehensive Human
Resources program for a large Washington, DC hospital (DC General).
Provided on-going consultation in Human Resources administration and
managed the HR function for a Maryland based healthcare system (Fort
Washington Hospital) with an acute care hospital and 180 bed nursing
home.
GREATER SOUTHEAST HEALTHCARE, Chief Human Resources Officer, Washington, DC

Reporting to the President/CEO served a member of the Management
Operations Committee (reporting to the President/CEO of the Healthcare
System) responsible for the operations of the Greater Southeast
Community Hospital (450 licensed beds), the Fort Washington Hospital
(37 licensed beds), Health Care Institute (183-bed nursing home),
Livingston Nursing Home (150 beds) and an array of community based
programs. Specifically responsible for planning, organizing and
administering the full scope of Human Resources functions, including
Compensation, HRIS, Benefits, Employment, Employee Relations,
Organizational Development & Learning, Occupational Health, Employee
Assistance Program and a School to Work Transition Program. Served as
staff for two Board Committees: Human Resources and Quality
Management. Also served as lead on two major system-wide initiatives:
CQI and Diversity.
HUMANA/GROUP HEALTH ASSOCIATION, Chief Human Resources Officer, Wash, DC
4/1991-12/1994
Reporting to the President/CEO participated as a member of the
Executive Management Council responsible for operations of a nine-site
Health Maintenance Organization, with over 140,000 members. Served on
the team charged with negotiating the sale of GHA to Humana during an
eight-month period leading to the actual sale on March 1, 1994. Also
served as the chief negotiator for impact bargaining with five unions.
Regular duties consisted of planning, organizing and administering a
comprehensive Human Resources function including Compensation,
Benefits, Employment, Training, Employee Health Services and Labor
Relations. Served as chief negotiator for all labor contracts, which
included physicians, nurses, office, service, and technical staff,
optometrists and dentists, (five separate labor agreements). Also
managed the general liability and malpractice insurance for the
organization. Served as Management Trustee for the Defined Benefit
Pension Plan.

Reporting to the President/CEO served a member of the Executive
Management Team responsible for Hospital operations for a two-site
institution with satellite clinics. Specific responsibility for
planning, organizing and administering a comprehensive Human Resources
function including Labor Relations, (with four collective bargaining
contracts: Physicians, Registered Nurses (NYSNA), Interns and
Residents (CIR), and Local 1199 Health and Hospital Workers Union)
Compensation, HRIS, Benefits, Employment, Training, and Employee
Health Services. Served as Trustee for the Health Services Pension
Plan and the IMC Nurses Pension Plan.
