Education and Training
California State University, Chico, CA - August 2006 to December 2011 (I
will receive my diploma after taking the EIT)
Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering
Senior Project - Designed and built a drive train to convert a gasoline
powered ATV to electric while still maintaining four wheel drive and
shifting capabilities.
. During my senior project, we converted a standard ATV to electric.
This conversion was a necessity to create a vehicle that was more
easily controlled autonomously. After doing most of the calculation
related to the conversion, I gained valuable manufacturing experience.
The ATV easily met all of its goals and could easily tow a 1200 pound
trailer at more than five miles per hour.
Human Powered Vehicle Club - Worked on the Human Powered Vehicle with
fellow students. Went on to place in many races and placed fourth overall.
. While in the Human Powered Vehicle Club, I helped design the basic
layout of the frame. I created a program in MATLAB which analyzed
overall straight-line vehicle performance. This program was used to
validate changes in design. I ran stability calculations to show how
far apart the two front tires needed to be to stay stable during
cornering. From this experience, I learned a lot about teamwork and
explaining technical ideas.
