OBJECTIVE: To continue a career in the field of music, specifically
saxophone performance, teaching privately and at the collegiate level. At
the same time I wish to continue to further my own depth of knowledge in
becoming a better performer and teacher.
PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have been studying saxophone for more than fifteen years. My five
years attending the University of Washington, especially provided an
atmosphere for growth, both musically and personally. In the last two
or three years, at both New England Conservatory and the University of
Washington, my interest in the field has been even more pronounced.
This is due to my having the opportunity to work with well-
established, respected, and truly inspirational musicians and being
surrounded daily by high levels of professionalism and creativity.
This has brought about a heightened sense of musicianship and
responsibility, as well as a more passionate drive to not only excel;
but to succeed in becoming a professional musician, saxophonist, and
teacher. I have grown as a performer, extending my playing into real
performance dates and concerts outside of the University or
Conservatory setting, in solo, quartet and large ensemble settings.
In 2004 I was a featured soloist as a member of the UW Saxophone
Quartet in the University of Washington Wind Ensemble, and in 2005 was
a finalist in the University of Washington's annual Concerto
Competition. I have obtained multiple scholarships in my career at
both the University of Washington and New England Conservatory as
well; and was featured as a member of the Quadrivium Saxophone Quartet
in NEC's Jordan Hall in the Fall of 2008 and both Winter and Spring of
2009. Following the completion of my Bachelor's degree in 2007, my
work at the New England Conservatory has only strengthened my
abilities as a performer, student, and teacher. Having recently
graduated from NEC (Spring of 2009), I am ready to continue my work as
both performer and teacher, at the professional level.
