the recipient-countries in Africa and the Caribbean to ensure
efficient running of day-to-day operations. Assisted the Chief
Operations Officer of the project with correspondence, preparation
of reports, diary management, travel, ordering of equipment, and
sending consultants to the concerned countries to conduct training
sessions. Assisted the Director of the National Consulting Division
in managing client base and consultant activities. (Down-sizing
occurred a year after I joined.)

Managed office operations including the Director's diary,
translating documents and interpreting at meetings when necessary,
scheduling meetings, travel arrangements as well as assisting in the

office of Interpol in Europe. (Needed a job that offered full

International Consortium for Blood Safety (ICBS - a grant funded by

Project Administrator and Personal Assistant to the Executive
Director
Performed the entire administration of the Bill Gates Blood Safety
project for almost three years, including preparation of the annual
progress report and funding proposals, editing information and
materials forwarded to medical experts and institutions, as well as
editing texts for the ICBS website. Utilized language skills when
dealing with overseas contacts. Handled correspondence
independently. Organized international conferences on Blood Safety
in overseas locations (Germany, Scotland, Africa and in the USA).
Dealt regularly (in German) with the scientific Paul Ehrlich
Institut in Langen, Germany and also with faculties at Berlin
University.
Worked closely with international Collaborating Centers and experts
to conduct workshops and training programs for technicians in
developing countries. Ordered shipments of blood testing-kits and
machinery for developing countries. Also managed diaries,
appointments, international invoices and travel arrangements for
ICBS Executives. Managed the office in the Director's absence.
(The ICBS grant was funded only for a period of five years and came
to an end in 2005 which necessitated my having to seek other
employment in time.)

(This was a starter job on my return from the UK to the USA in
2001.)

including greeting overseas visitors; organized weekly meetings,
prepared minutes, reports and agendas. Was liaision with the Head
Office in Germany and with other offices in the USA on
administrative matters pertaining to the CFO's sphere of work. Also

Social Secretary
Organized social events for the Ambassador, maintained guest lists
and prepared table seating arrangements, received guests at social
events at Ambassador's residence, drafted and sent invitations,
performed other protocol duties, prepared Ambassador's weekly
schedule and composed his correspondence to senior government
officials, diplomats and the aristocracy in German and English. Was
liaison with the staff of members of British aristocracy, political
leaders, diplomats, senior government officials and VIPs. Organized
functions for special political and trade delegations from Germany
where the Ambassador was the official host. Translated documents
and interpreted at meetings.
