Responsible for performing outside book drop, checking in and out of materials, self

reading, transferring materials between branches, cleaning and organizing collections,

shelving books, issuing library cards, maintaining magazine collections, handling patron

fines, and other duties as they arose.

Library Assistant

Rancho Cucamonga Public Library 09/2008 Present

Work the Adult and Children’s reference desk, assist patrons with general reference

questions, assist patrons with research, perform basic cataloguing and data entry,

provide patrons with tech support for the laptops, work in the library’s technology centers,

keep the reference area in order, provide patrons with excellent customer service, and

perform other duties as they arise.

Skills

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Work and PowerPoint, while possessing a familiarity

with Microsoft Excel and Publisher. I understand Spanish at an Intermediate level and

speak it at a Beginning level. I have a strong familiarity with copy machines. I have a

typing speed of about 80 wpm. I also possess strong customer service skills that I have

been able to continually improve upon while dealing closely with the general public both

with my current job and other jobs have held in the past. I also possess a strong

familiarity with the Dewey Decimal System. In the course of my graduate education, I

have also developed a familiarity with the DB/Textworks program. I am also highly

familiar with the Horizon database system and possess a beginning knowledge of

LexisNexis, Factiva, and Dialog database systems.
