I worked on the product development team for Boyds Bears as their only sample maker/pattern maker/sewing
specialist. I created samples from the ideas of the product development team using their pictures, hand drawings or
even their verbal ideas. My approved samples became the working samples for our oversea factories. For a few
years I worked under the direction of Sujata Luther who was the head of the Barbie division at Mattel, for her I
designed a line of Gone with the Wind bears, an Elvis bear, Disney items and many other licensed products until her
resignation in 2011.

I was responsible for bringing the ideas and visions of the product development team to life. Over the years I
created many different plush animals, figures or various other things to help make our brand successful. In 2008
Boyds was purchased by Enesco Gifts along with many other brands including GUND who has a team positioned in
China to make their samples. At the end of 2012 Enesco thought it would be more cost efficient for Boyds Bears to
utilize the GUND team in China, so I was no longer needed. I absolutely loved my job; I worked from home in my
fully equipped sewing room. The old adage is true, when you do something you love it doesn’t feel like a job and
that is how I felt.
