Personal Profile

It is my goal to make a career in applications of Geographic Information

Systems or problem solving in geology upon completion of my degree.

It is my ambition to enter into a career that will couple the formal

education that I have received with real-world applications in the field of

geosciences.

I hope to find a position that incorporates not only my major field of

study, geology, but also the tools that I have learned related to GIS.

Experience

Senior Research at Texas Tech University

For completion of my degree at Texas Tech University, a senior project was

chosen and completed under the direction of Dr. Seiichi Nagihara

incorporating both GIS and geology aspects.

Dune migration in Monahans Sandhills State Park was monitored for a 5 month

period using the Trimble R3 GPS system.

Field measurements were recorded at different periods during the year to

generate maps of the study area using the ArcGIS suite of software. These

maps were used to monitor the movement of the sandhills, and used to track

the progression of changes in the sandhills with prevailing winds.

The study found that dunes in the region typically met their angle of

repose and overturn the direction of crest orientation, while the crest

migrated around 8 meters between during the study period.
