Information Systems Maintenance Technician October 2006 to December 2009
US Navy San Diego, CA
• Supervised personnel and managed all information system and communications assets for the organization,
including more than $11M in equipment. Initiated and negotiated Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) letters
for four Commander Navy Region Southwest (COMNAVREG SW) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)
commands.
• Led software upgrade of more than 1,000 communications systems, coordinating with manufacturers,
vendors and subordinate units to schedule technicians to perform complex work with minimal impact on
operations. Identified affected systems, developed and oversaw technical training and monitored project
implementation progress. Managed the selection, packaging and shipment of technical equipment required to
support combat operations overseas in remote locations. Managed the movement of 1,120 pieces of
Automated Identification System (AIS) equipment, 43 EOD robots and 1,050 pieces of communications
equipment to a new headquarters facility.
• Provided operational and technology support to deployed units as C4I expert, supporting 3 networks and 7
subordinate units with 168 laptops. Operated C4I systems in a field environment, including Ultrahigh
Frequency (UHF), Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and High Frequency (HF) radio systems. Managed
mobile networks to establish immediate access to Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System
(JWICS), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet) and Unclassified but Sensitive Internet
Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) information networks.
• Conducted and led teams in IT maintenance on ships and shore. Diagnosed, repaired, replaced, configured
and maintained LAN/WAN, desktop computers, servers, routers, link converters, fiber optics, and other
related peripherals. Monitored network traffic, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Protection
System (IPS) to identify suspicious activity and protect confidential and classified data from cyber-attacks,
hackers, worm viruses and other unauthorized access attempts.
• Supported Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) infrastructure as
Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) manager implementing National Security Agency (NSA)
program for electronic Communications Security (COMSEC). Maintained accurate accounting of 456

key material, generation, distribution and accounting.

Electronics Technician August 1998 to October 2006

• Provided IT, communications and electronics support to Navy and joint military operating forces throughout
the United States, in foreign countries and under the sea as part of submarine operations in the Pacific.
• Worked independently or with minimal supervision to perform maintenance on electronic equipment for
surface ships such as electronic air detection and tracking equipment, electronic recognition and identification
equipment, radar transmitting/receiving equipment and navigation, communication and cryptography
equipment. Maintained thorough knowledge of electricity and electronics, reading and interpreting
schematics and block diagrams, using test equipment and hand tools to repair electrical/electronic cables and
connectors. Aligned, adjusted, calibrated and performed preventive maintenance on equipment repairs and
replaced faulty parts or subassemblies.
• Installed, configured, diagnosed, repaired and maintained a broad range of critical electronic IT, computer,
network, broadcast, cryptographic, communication and navigation equipment, computers, and other related
