Hosted NPR's Morning Edition, four morning newscasts during
ME-including writing and reporting, while providing weather
and local event information. Produce Q & A's on authors,
doctors and artists. Produce features on diverse topics:
environment, politics, rental housing and the local food
movement.
WKNO-FM
2/2008 - 7/2012 News Director
Oversaw and implemented change in the WKNO's award-winning
shop from two newscasts per day to a feature-driven
newsroom. Produces in-depth features and spots, including
preparation and posting stories to the Web. Instrumental
in creating a story exchange system with public radio
stations across Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi. Runs
two-person newsroom, selects stories from story exchange,
and commissions stories from stringers. Files spots and
occasional features for NPR. Occasional contract
production for BBC Americana. Posts stories to the station
website, using Core Publisher and Public Interactive's
content management systems. Write simple html code and
provides photos to go with the web stories.
9/2005 - 2/2008 Production Manager/Operations Assistant
Supervise, assign and edit enterprising features, and
schedule for air. Produce features, specials, commentaries,
Memphis Moments, Memphis Symphony Radio Hour, StoryCorps
Memphis and listener testimonials. Produced Smart City, a
nationally syndicated program. Produced daily and weekly
promos. Hosted ATC 9/05 through 6/06. Proficient in Adobe
Audition 3.0. Engineered ISDN's and other contract
production. Worked in collaboration with GPB and WBHM to
create the Southern Radio Network, which we leveraged to
secure funding from NPR to bolster and improve news making
and editing across the South. Filed stories for Kentucky
Public Radio, NPR, and Voice of America.
KHSU-FM
8/2004 - 8/2005 Production Associate/Board Operator/Host
Hosted PRI's The World, NPR's All Things Considered, and
the BBC World Service. Worked with Program Director and
Morning Edition host to schedule and capture national
feeds, light production, and engineering locally produced
election debates. Proficient in Cool Edit and the ENCO
satellite system. Trained volunteers to board op.
KHSU Experience Continued:
10/1998 - 8/2005 Host, The Ramblin' Folk Show
Two-hour folk show that included live interviews with
musicians to promote their upcoming concerts and new
releases. The reason it was called The Ramblin' Folk Show
is because the music stretched across many folk genres from
contemporary and traditional folk to old time, blues,
rockabilly, Americana, Cajun, Zydeco, bluegrass, and Alt-
country.
5/1999 - 3/2001 Substitute Board Operator/Host PRI's The World and NPR's
All Things Considered.
3/2000-3/2001 Production Engineer, Native Pulse!, a 30-minute public
affairs program that explores issues in Indian Country,
from the Human Genome Project, to uranium mining, language
revitalization, basket-making, and the Permanent Forum on
Indigenous Issues at the United Nations.
5/1999 to 4/2001 Volunteer Coordinator, KHSU-FM. Developed and implemented
volunteer recruitment strategy, designed and facilitated
volunteer orientation, trained volunteers as on-air talent
and as production engineers. Worked closely with Program
Director and Station Manager to coordinate operation of
volunteer-run public radio station. Supervised student
assistants in general office duties, remote broadcast
engineering, and production work. Designed audience
research survey. Provided administrative support to the
Community Advisory Group. Produced monthly staff
newsletter. Created and maintained volunteer database.
Coordinated and helped manage pledge drive. Did remote
broadcasts on a variety of community health issues and
political candidate forums as part of the Health Dialogues
initiative.
11/1996-Fall 1998 Host, Whiskey B4 Breakfast, a three-hour, theme-
based eclectic music show that included road trips, the
weather, spoken word, etc.

Assists with the Seventh Generation Fund's Program Office
activities and community support strategy including
outreach to Native communities and projects, program
planning, grant writing, administrative support and
oversight, grants review, technical assistance, and issue
advocacy support. Participant in the 1st InterTribal
Native Radio Summit in June 2001, media outreach
coordinator and liaison between potential and current
Native media projects and SGF.

Transcribed interviews, syllabi, test materials, lecture
notes for Dr. Samuel P. Oliner. Also conducted long-form
interviews throughout the area for a research project about
attitudes and prejudice in Humboldt County, California.

Francisco.
Covered breaking news, including murders, kidnappings, and
fires among other stories for Bay City News, a Bay area
wire service. Also covered city and county politics and
the courts of Sonoma County.

Covered local politics, including the Regional Water
Quality Control Board, the newly formed public water
