To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept my attached resume for a position in the lab. I feel I have what it takes to be a proficient
addition to your team. I am a strong leader with outstanding verbal communication skills, a drive for
perfection, a passion for hard work, and a desire for positive relationships in the work place. I am
dependable, competent, and prompt.
I have experience in basic microscopy (compound, dissecting, etc.); a clear understanding of a vast
number of laboratory measuring tools and procedures; experience in the preparation and separation of
solutions. This includes the knowledge and proficiency in conversions amongst moles, mass, and
volume. All college labs were precisely recorded in lab notebooks. I am familiar with Microsoft Office
Word, Excel and Power Point.
In the lab I have performed: cell culturing, concentrating, and lysing; crude isolations; precipitation of
plasmid DNA; immunoblotting; centrifugation; PCR; agarose gel and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis-
displaying DNA fragments to plasmids to total RNA.
One lab involved the creation and then isolation of plasmid B48-9 from E. coli DH5α cells.
Electrophoresis separated the coiled DNA from the circular DNA. The GeneAmp PCR System 2007,
GeneSnap imaging software package, and Biomate 5 spectrophotometer are just a few instruments I have
been familiarized with in the lab.
I have performed protein isolations. Dialysis and western blotting were two techniques used in separating
and identifying proteins. The ELISA method was introduced in the classroom.
I have prepared, observed, and/or cultured microorganisms using different media and stains (gram, acid
fast, simple, endospore, and negative).
Animal specimens I have had experience with in the lab include: Zebrafish, Drosophila, chick embryos,
and sea urchins. Live chick embryos were used to demonstrate the criticalness of using aseptic
techniques. I have become very comfortable working with mice, rabbits, chinchillas, rats, and guinea
pigs. I have strong ambitions to uncover more about genetic pathways. The process of genotyping is
amazing and I would be thrilled to be a part of manipulations and new discoveries.
I feel I would be well suited for a lab position and would appreciate your consideration. Please feel free
to contact me at 701-***-**** or via e-mail at ***************@***.*****.***. I look forward to hearing
from you.
Sincerely,
April Laschkewitsch
