Objective My objective is to acquire a challenging and
rewarding position with a progressive
and growth-oriented company as a Mechanical/Structural/Piping
Designer including 3D
modeling. I seek to learn additional plant design software.
Experience
Apr 2007-
Nov 2010 URS Corporation Austin, TX
Senior Mechanical Designer - MicrostationV8/AutoCad
Technician
TOCDF (Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal
Facility) Munitions Demilitarization
Responsible for the development of an
engineering plan set for a 9,024 s.f. building
to facilitate a carbon filtration system that removes mercury
from flue gas. Produced
a 3D model to aid in the design of structural supporting
steel, access platforms, stairs
and ladders, test probes, pipe routing, pipe support
locations, valve locations and as a
check for interferences. Designed access platforms with
stairs and ladders to provide
access to test probes, valves and other equipment. Produced
architectural and structural plans, piping plans, platform
framing plans, foundation plans, piping support plans and
all related elevations, sections, and details drawings.
Performed as Lead Cad Technician
to coordinate CAD operators with other discipline groups and
improved the efficiency
and accuracy of the drawing production process through proper
utilization of reference
files and communication. Received an individual achievement
award for my performance on this project.
Westar Energy (Jeffrey Energy Center) Flue Gas
Desulphurization Upgrade
Produced a 3D model to aid in the design of structural
supporting steel, pipe routing,
pipe support locations, pumps, absorber component design and
as a check for
interferences. I identified an interference that would have
been redundant at several locations on site resulting in a
simple redesign of a bracket before fabrication of parts.
Produced structural plans, piping plans, piping isometrics,
pipe support detail sheets, piping support plans and all
related elevations, sections, and details drawings. Produced
a walk-through presentation of the 3D model utilizing Bentley
Explorer.
Produced an architectural set of drawings for the design of a
new laboratory room. I became proficient with AutoCad 2009
producing various sets of drawings including platform and
supporting structural steel plans.

Carter Burgess Engineering
Austin, TX
Lead CAD Designer/Technician
Microstaion-J/Microstation V-8
Lead CAD Tech for the development of bridge plan sets
related to large highway interchange design project. (SH-
45 SE at I-35 interchange) Coordinated plan set production
with several CAD operators and engineers in multiple office
locations involving extensive communications. Produced
bridge layouts, abutment sheets, bent sheets, prestressed
concrete beam unit sheets, beam layouts and quantities
summary sheets. Utilized GEOPAK for accuracy of design.
Responsible for file management and archiving.
Dec 2000 - Dec 2004 PBS&J Engineering
Austin, TX
Structural CAD Designer/Technician
Microstation-J/Microstation V-8
Responsible for the development of bridge plan sets related
to several TXDOT projects. Produced bridge layouts,
abutment sheets, bent sheets, prestressed concrete beam
unit sheets, beam layouts and quantities summary sheets. I
have calculated reinforcing steel and concrete quantities
with proficiency and accuracy. I have also developed a file
management system that increased the productivity and
quality of bridge design drawings. Various other tasks
included converting Microstation dgn files to pdf files
utilizing Acrobat Distiller, downloading bridge standard
files from the TXDOT website for reference and inclusion in
bridge plan sets and utilizing the company ftp website for
the transfer of files.
I am versatile in my skills and performed duties in other
disciplines and design groups including roadway, drainage
and TTA Tollway Planning.
Sep 1998 - Apr 1999 PPG Industries
Lexington, NC
CAD Operator
Microstation 95/SE
I produced fiberglass production equipment drawings, which
included structural steel support, furnace refractory and
mechanical equipment designs. I also created plans,
sections, details and bill of material drawings which
utilized reference files, cells and level symbology.
Mar 1992- Jun 1998 Burlington Industries
Greensboro, NC
CAD Operator
Microstation 95
Responsible for the development of industrial-architectural
engineering drawings of all types which included plant
layouts, equipment layouts, floor plans, foundations plans,
roof framing plans, sections and details sheets, steel
platform plans and specification sheets with extensive
utilization of reference files, cells, cell libraries and
level symbology. I also created a 3-D model of an office
building.
Jul 1988 - Oct 1991 Chas. T. Main, Inc.
Charlotte, NC
CAD Operator
Responsible for the development of electrical drawings of
all types, which included wiring diagrams, power,
grounding, lighting and site plans. Performed light design
of cable tray and conduit layout drawings. I developed
sections and details, isometric instrumentation drawings,
piping and instrumentation diagrams. I also produced
dimensional scaled drawings on DOE projects with heavy
utilization of reference files in coordination with other
disciplines.
Jun 1985 - Jul 1988 Autographics, Inc.
Raleigh, NC
CAD Operator
Intergraph
I produced manual to CAD conversions, which included
elementary and wiring diagrams, piping and instrumentation
diagrams, maps, plant layout and architectural drawings. I
performed 3-D modeling, art and logo design, space
planning, and advertising design with slide presentations.
Created site plans utilizing digitizing and precision
input. I also performed the creation and coordination of
various cell libraries.
