Objective:
To obtain a full time position in the oil and gas field as a mud
logger and become proficient in using my knowledge of geology in the field.
My goal as I become a stronger geologist in this area is to locate and
analyze oil and gas reservoirs climbing up to a significant official
position with a stable, growth oriented company. As I advance, I would
like to obtain an interdisciplinary engineering degree in order to operate
as a field engineer or field technician.
Education:
College of Charleston, Charleston, SC
Bachelor of Science in Geology, May 2011
Work/Research Experience:
Dockmaster:
Ripley Light Yacht Club

Current
. I trouble shoot electrical, mechanical and computer problems.
. I am responsible for the billing cycle for each month and have been
able to produce profits to pre recession numbers by implementing "lean
and mean" policies.
. I correspond directly with engineering firms in regards to the marina
expansion and offer advice for the pre-development plans.
. I am currently in the process of creating the first mobile "app" for
marina use.
Tertiary Limestone Independent Study
Charleston, SC January '11 - May'11
. I was assigned the task of determining the origin of a cornerstone of
a plantation home of Charleston, SC.
. I analyzed the sample macroscopically and microscopically comparing
foriams of the sample to carbonate deposits in the surrounding area
using high-powered microscopes.
. I catalogued and organized vibracore samples into a database system
where information can easily be retrieved.
Gerace Research Center San Salvador,
Bahamas December '10 - January '11
. I volunteered as an analyst with Dr. Jim Carew (Professor at College
of Charleston) and Dr. Stephanie Schwabe (Professor at University of
Kentucky) studying the calcium carbonate environments in the area.
. We conducted research and evaluated the dissolution and formation of
underwater caves, focusing on influences of brackish water and
cyanobacteria.
. I designed an experiment to observe rates of dissolution of various
types of calcium carbonate rock using carbonic and hydrochloric acid.
Skills:
. I am proficient in ArcGIS 9.3.1, geological mapping with corresponding
cross sections, analysis of thin sections and rock samples, as well as
Microsoft Word and Excel.
. I have exposure to a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and am also
familiar with seismic reflection and refraction survey equipment.
. I am proficient with GPS, radar and side scan sonar systems used for
sub bottom profiling.
. I am comfortable negotiating the interstate while towing trailers.
Other Research/Interests:
I am an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of The Arrow. I am very
interested in large-scale tectonics focusing on subducting plates. I have
researched and written about the variation in the dip of subducting plates
and the effects this can have on the surrounding region concentrating on
the potential for geothermal energy.
