Primarily using Progress OpenEdge, I managed all phases of application
development for VUL and UL life insurance products to support our high net
worth policy holder accounts. Built and led a new team of software
developers in a co-development partnership with McCamish Systems Customized
McCamish' enterprise administration system, VPAS, to administer Sun Life's
Individual Life Insurance product mix from new business through death claim
processing. Implemented functionality enhancements, supervised all new
software development and strengthened VPAS system design, including
integration with downstream applications. Established continual SDLC
process improvements and instituted mission-critical version control,
mixing client and base version software changes. Engaged internal SLF
stakeholders to ensure successful nightly batch processing. Led the
development team as we migrated documentation to SharePoint for cross
functional process improvements. Performed root cause analysis for nightly
exceptions and developed corrective actions to ensure Service Level
Agreements were met. As the subject matter expert, engaged senior
management in cost-benefit analysis, driving the strategic direction of
VPAS business implementations. Managed a global, multi-site software
development strategy, utilizing off-shore development teams in Ireland and
India, decreasing product time to market and ensuring operational
capabilities during disaster recovery. Earned FFSI designation.

software engineer supporting the manufacturing division and developed first
automated quoting system used to effectively bid on government programs.
Saved the division over 90 thousand dollars annually through accurate
quoting, and reduced quoting labor time from 10 days to 4 hours.
