Director of Technical Services reporting to the CIO / Senior Vice President

of Information Services, responsible for all of DHMC clinical and business

computer infrastructure. Responsible for DHMC Data Center, and all

computer systems associated with core business functions. Groups reporting

to this position are Technical Services, Systems Administrators Group,

Database Administrators, Client Technical Support, Network Engineers,

Computer Operations, and PC Tech Support. DHMC is New Hampshire's

largest healthcare provider with a staff of over 7000 employees.

DHMC Accomplishments

. High availability computer environments for all clinical and critical

business systems (EMR, LAB, OR, Patient Registration, Pharmacy and

People financial systems)

. Network core infrastructure bandwidth enhancement from 1Gb to 10 Gb

. Centralize Controlled WAN infrastructure for 16 clinical sites throughout

New Hampshire

. Central controlled and monitoring 802.11 (a,b,g) wireless network

. Network security improvements using firewalls, encrypted network,

intrusion protection systems, and proxy appliances

. Completed and executed a strategy of aggressive refreshing of servers on

a 3 year schedule to keep application performance at its highest

. Implemented a data de-duplication backup process resulting 85% reduction

in number of physical tapes required for backups.

. Developed a 5 year four tier storage strategy dramatically reducing cost

of clinical data storage.

. Installation of Aeroscout 802.11 RFID system for Smart pumps, beds,

freezers, refrigerators, and wheelchairs. The benefits have exceeded the

cost of the project and met JACHO requirements.

. Implemented a free guest wireless network for patient and family internet

access.

(1999 - 2004)

Director of Technical Services reporting to the Vice President of Support

Services, responsible for hardware and software for all production and

development systems for the Amherst Product Group Division of McKesson.

Duties include client technical support for all McKesson APG software

products. Responsible for APG Technical groups which includes Systems

Administrators, Database Administrators, Client Technical Support, Network

Engineers, and PC Tech Support. McKesson APG Group provides decision

support software for healthcare institutions. McKesson's healthcare client

install base consists of approximately 600 hospitals and healthcare systems

across the country.

McKesson Accomplishments

. Maintained a high availability computer environment for Amherst Product

Group support and development.

. Migrated decision support software application from a Sybase database

system to an Oracle database system.

. Developed a three tier user support environment for 600 hospital

contracted clients.

East Boston Neighborhood Health Center Boston, MA Director of MIS (1994

-1996)

Director of Management Information Systems: EBNHC was a large inner-city

healthcare system with over 13 locations throughout the city including

three major health centers that provided 24-hour emergency care services.

EBNHC Accomplishments

. Implemented EPIC clinic based system with Physician Order Entry options.

. Installed a high speed Wide Area Network to support three large EGNHC

clinics in Boston.

. Migrated EBNHC data center to new high availability center with minimal

Manager of InterPractice Systems: InterPractice Systems was a point of

presence clinical information system that managed and tracked patient care

including on-line patient records system, appointment scheduling, pharmacy,

and lab systems using Epic application.

BYTE Magazine Lexington, MA Technical Director of BYTE Lab

(1996 - 1998)

Reported to the Editor-in-Chief of BYTE magazine and was responsible for

testing all hardware and software products reviewed in BYTE Magazine.

Duties included managing the testing lab and lab staff, and defining

testing procedures and policies. Technical liaison for BYTE magazine with

all major hardware vendors; implementing benchmark testing procedures;

managing budget for testing lab; technical speaker on behalf of BYTE

Magazine at technical forums; and responsible for evaluating computer

hardware for "Best of BYTE" awards at COMDEX.

GTE Government Systems, Westborough, MA Principal Technical

Responsible for strategic and capacity planning of GTE VAX Systems,

responsible for providing Technical Support on GTE Government contracts

with US Army and US Air Force on computer based mission control systems.
