Personnel Department
Attn: Human Resource Manager:
My name is Gary L. Newton. I have been employed as an Electrical Project
Manager for electrical consulting engineering firms, and electrical
contractors, in the San Diego, Denver, Las Vegas, and Sacramento areas, for
many years.
I am seeking a position as an Electrical Project Manager or Senior
Electrical Designer where I can use my extensive electrical knowledge and
experience to expand and support your business goals and services.
I have enclosed my resume with this letter, for your review. I have
specialized in preparing Construction Documents for electrical power,
lighting, low and medium voltage power distribution, special systems, multi-
media projects, and reviewing and evaluating product submittals for
compliance with project requirements. I am a Certified Professional
Estimator, and prepare cost estimates for all my own projects. I am also
involved with costs associated with Change Order requests, and Value
Engineering proposals. I have performed many peer reviews of contract
documents, including checking for NEC compliance, lighting and power
calculations, and cross discipline coordination between electrical and all
other trades.
Many of my projects included extensive modernization work, including
complete site and building infrastructure replacements for power upgrades,
new lighting, new Tele/Data systems, and the addition of low voltage and
Multi-Media systems.
I have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. I am proficient
in AutoCad through version 2008, Windows (XP, Vista, and 7), Microsoft 2007
Office Suite, plus various lighting, short circuit and cost estimating
programs. I am able to easily establish relationships with business owners,
architects, engineers, and contractors, which allows an easier exchange of
information throughout a project. I have a strong background in jobsite
field coordination and problem resolutions. I have always mentored junior
employees and co-workers on my assignments, whenever possible. A typical
project load for me includes the simultaneous management of 20 or more
projects, in various stages of completion.
With my extensive background in Electrical and Communications design and
construction, I am sure I could make a valuable contribution to your
company. An extensive list of completed projects, as well as personal and
professional references, and samples of my work, are available upon
request. Please let me know when we might be able to get together and
discuss the many ways I could help your company.
Sincerely,
Gary L. Newton
