Project: The effects of mitochondrial stress of cancer
progression and obesity
Research under the mentorship of Masahiro Higuchi, PhD. My
research focus is on the investigation of metabolic and
respiratory function of the hepatocellular carcinoma
(liver cancer) cell line. The ultimate goal is to derive
molecular mechanisms that better explain the relationship
between stress induced on the mitochondria and exhibition
of phenotypes such as metastasis and obesity.
Recipient of the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
(SURF) award at the University of Arkansas for Medical
Sciences (UAMS).

Continued Chemical Engineering Department, University of Wyoming
Conversion of Methanol to Polyethylene (PE) and
Polypropylene (PP)
Research and project development of an operating plant for
the conversion of methanol to olefins. The focus of this
project was to design an operable process detailing the
conversion of crude methanol to light olefins, mainly
propylene and ethylene. Comprehensive economics,
profitability analysis and process description design were
presented at the end of the project.

spectroscopic techniques such as circular dichroism and

handed Z-DNA.

Research performed under Professor Kenneth Smith.
Preliminary experiments were carried out towards the
synthesis of some novel arlidene sulfonamides that might
contain interesting biological activity by targeting
certain infectious diseases. Modification and further
work on this type of compound might lead to the discovery
of new therapeutic agents against a variety of diseases.
