EXPERIENCE: Blockbuster Inc. – McKinney, TX

HR Consultant

By Mail and McKinney Distribution (January 2009 – present)

• Sole generalist for 38 US distribution centers comprised of 550 hourly employees and 80

management personnel. Continue to support the HR function for the McKinney Distribution Center.

As of April 2011, sole HR support for McKinney Distribution Center.

• Enhance the “HR dashboard” that enables consistency across the network allowing management

to be more self-sufficient in the day-to-day business operation as it pertains to employee-related

issues.

• Implement return to work policy. Work with employees and physicians to evaluate ADA

accommodation and modified duty requests for both work and non-work related injuries and

illnesses.

• Participate in projects and initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness including

organizational restructuring, change management and process redesign.

• Assist in the compression of shifts in the McKinney Distribution center from a 4 shift (3 days/12

hours) to a 3 shift (5 days/8 hours) operation with less than 2% turnover.

• Develop and implement recruiting and onboarding programs for By Mail in an effort to improve

the quality of candidates and timeliness of the hiring process. As of May 2011, full responsibility of all

recruiting for By Mail hourly and exempt positions.

• Investigate, document and resolve employee relations issues by conducting phone interviews

and assessing whether a site visit is required.

• Communicate daily with By Mail Directors and Area Managers to inform them of any pertinent or

potential issues that may negatively impact the business.

McKinney Distribution (August 2006 – January 2009)

• Member of the human resource team that provide support for the 24/6 operation of an 800,000

square foot distribution center that employs 1000 exempt and non exempt employees.

• Conduct investigations to resolve employee relation issues using conflict management skills.

• Represent HR Distribution team on several company-wide initiatives involving Benefits, Recruiting

and Policy Development.

• Participate in various cross-functional teams responsible for roll out of ISO Standards, Continuous

Improvement initiatives, Taleo implementation and Goal Deployment Process.

• Member of the Employee Relations team responsible for a Reduction in Force plan which included

generating required reports, logistics planning, counseling impacted employees, and other aspects of

the RIF aimed at minimizing legal complications.

• Increased staffing of warehouse positions by 50% in a four-week period with a cost per hire of

less than one dollar.

• Continue to recruit for all distribution center openings.

Contract Recruiter (August 2005 – August 2006)

•Recruit professionals for Distribution and Corporate exempt and non-exempt positions.

•Assist Hiring Managers to identify qualified candidates by screening, administering tests, verifying

references, processing background checks and conducting interviews. Extend job offers and

compose offer letter to successful candidates.
