Project: Gross Margin Erosion (EBI)
Gross margin erosion (GMR) is a part of Best buy enterprise business
intelligence which provides the complete details about profits and erosions
on particular sales transactions to the business users. Here the various
types of discounts, price-matches, Promotions, Clearances given by Best
buy at item level are pulled and used in calculating the profits and
erosions. These values are categorized as controllable and uncontrollable
erosion buckets and used by business users in taking business decisions to
improve the sales.
Responsibilities:
. Worked as a Teradata senior consultant and leaded the team from
onsite.
. As part of this project we introduced new erosion buckets and
improved the performance of existing process.

Project: People Systems Operations
People System operations involves maintenance and enhancement of
applications like Career planning and recruitment, Gain, Time and
attendance, Employee training and Development which is used across the Wal-
Mart stores and DC's. However the data from these applications are stored
in Teradata and is shared across globally to the business users as well as
to other applications in the system for running the business smoothly. The
data from all the stores and DC's are Extracted, Transformed into required
format and loaded into the Data warehouse (Teradata) through hourly jobs
and nightly jobs.

Project: CAR ACCOUNTING SYSTEM
The System for Car Accounting comprises the functionalities of Capturing,
billing and collecting all revenues associated to equipment car hire. The
overall responsibility of the system is to ensure accurate rating mileage
payouts for all private line car hire shipments
a) When non BNSF equipment runs on BNSF railroad, BNSF pays car-hire to the
other railroad and vice versa.
b) Car Accounting System mainly deals in maintaining payable and receivable
car-hire details. Car Hire payments are mainly regulated with a monthly AAR
exchange tape process between the railroads.
Responsibilities:

. Improved the performance of batch applications which increased the
fixing of freight claims.
. Developed new freight claims fixing online screens in TELON and
decreased the time frame in solving the freight claims.

Project: INTERLINE SWITCHING ACCOUNT
Interline Switch Accounting (ISA) determines settlement amounts for
interline switch events. Interline switch events are car movements from one
railroad to another delivering the cars to or from a customer or between
carriers. ISA calculates the foreign line amounts due to BNSF and verifies
the BNSF amounts due to foreign lines.
The Switch Accounting department uses ISA to enter and maintain billing
information. The Marketing department uses ISA to enter and maintain
industry and rate information.
ISA provides a common database that allows you to inquire, create, and
maintain the following:
Operations Information, such as the Location ID, Industry and Road Serving,
Billing Rate Information.
