PROJECTS
Master project: Carbonitriding Fundamentals, Modeling and Process Optimization.lab
Center for Heat Treating Excellence, WPI, Jan 2009-May 2011.
• Developed key parameters and take participate modeling for a simulation software called
carbonitriding tool, which can used in industry to accurately control and optimize
carbonitriding processing;
• Developed fundamental understanding of thermodynamics and kinetics of materials.
• Designed and organized experiments procedure to meet the requirement for modeling
development.
• Improved Lab skills by independently completed the testing processing for 190 samples;
• Improved the understanding of metallurgy with a focus on root causes and improvement
method on project.
• Built up a data base from experiment, provide heat treaters a reference and for future
study.
• Lead a team of new coming students to training them on lab techniques.
Bachelor Project: Designed the Producing Line of Thermosetting Phenolic Resins
JU, Jinan, China, Sep 2006-Apr 2007
• Designed both the production line for thermosetting phenolic resins and the plant lay-out
scheme. Used Auto CAD to draw the plant.
• Gained experience in processing and in industry’s consideration of production design by
searching and learning the information about the choice of raw material and facilities.
EXPERIENCE
Volunteer – New England Material Camp, American Society for Microbiology (2008-present).
• Provided high school students an overall impression for material field research.
• Worked as guide to lead students go to every session on time and guarantee activity went
smooth.
• Worked as session assistant helped speaker prepare and show experiments.
Translate, WZHY Translate, Jinan China, Feb 2008- May 2008
• Translated engineering instruction books for automobiles, machinery, mobile phones and
other equipment, as well as certifications for degrees, marriages, driving licenses and
similar documents.
• Negotiated with customers and companies for new business, as well as with other
translats for target assignments and progress reports.
• Sorted data of previous customers, translated and set database for company use.
LAB Assistant, Shandong University Carbon Fiber Engineering Technology Research Center,
Jinan, China, June 2007-Oct 2007
• Assisted in the research of how to improve the structure and properties of
polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursors.
• Participated in producing carbon fiber in lab, and tested the tensile strength, fatigue
strength, shrinkage in boiling water.
Lab Assistant, JU, Jinan, China, March 2006-May 2007
• Assisted and guided undergraduates in finishing their project and laboratory reports.
• Prepared devices and materials required for experiments in nano-scale coating.
Metalworking Practice and Safety Practice (2 months)
Elementary operation of machining, welding, lathe operate, bench work, numerical control, line-
cutting.
Summer Jobs (2003-2007)
• Sold mp3, skin products and accessories in different stores.
• Learned negotiation skills and selling experience.
