CAREER SUMMARY:

10 years of solid experience in RF Planning and Optimization for

GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, WCDMA networks; as well as Indoor (IBS) /

Outdoor (Green Field) Design, Drive Test and Surveys.

Engineer - Network Planning and Optimization

RF Planning

. Performs indoor and outdoor design for GSM and UMTS network (Alcatel and

Huawei Equipments).

. Perform Frequency Planning for 2G and Scrambling Code Planning for 3G for

the incoming new sites and interfered working sites.

. Capacity Planning / Traffic Planning and Forecasting for regular and

special events like New Years Eve, Festivals, Eid Holidays, etc.

. Conduct field trials to evaluate new features (e.g. Dynamic Half Rate)

and products (TMA/boosters and Repeaters), developing their associated

implementation and optimization guidelines.

. Responsible for Phase Project Rollout network dimensioning and preparing

the channel loading plan.

. Suggesting plans for upgrading BSC and BTS, after analyzing statistical

data reports from Network Performance Optimizer like TCH congestion, BCSU

loading, etc.

. Responsible for the acceptance / declaration of 2G/3G sites (new site,

reconfigured site and other related major activities on cell sites).

Thus, performs Drive Test and other tests such as Call Set Up, short /

long calls, sms, gprs/edge, hspa, handovers and other related testings

and verifications before acceptance / declaration.

RF Optimization

. Improve Quality of Service (QoS) of assigned area through resolution of

worst performing cells and cluster optimization.

. GPRS/EDGE for 2G and HSPA for 3G traffic monitoring and optimization to

ensure seamless availability & high throughput.

. Monitoring daily KPI's using Alcatel-Lucent Network Performance Optimizer

and implementing parameter changes based on the reports to improve the

KPI's of sites within my zone. The KPIs include dropped call rate, call

setup success rate, handover success rate, interference, uplink and

downlink quality, and other KPIs.

. Perform drive test and network benchmarking on assigned routes,

maintaining drive test Network Quality Index (NQI) beyond the set target

and immediate resolution of problems encountered during the test, using

TEMS Investigation (Ericsson) and GENEX PROVE (Huawei) for analysis.

. Validate through drive test if network changes like BSC and BTS re-

homings, implementation of new frequency plan and activation of new BSS

features do not cause network quality problems.

. Co-channel/Adjacent-channel interference clean up, improve the coverage

by reorientation of antennas, down tilt / up tilt, power adjustments

(increase/decrease), antenna height adjustments and reevaluating antenna

specs.

. Analysis of radio utilization to identify blocking, and giving solution

by parameter changes, adding new carrier (TRX) to the cell, installing

new sites after locating Hot Spots, implementing dynamic half rate and

dual band (common BCCH) features. Implementing 2nd. / 3rd. carrier for

UMTS to cater the rising traffic.

Customer Relation

. Interacts with customer to ensure understanding of customer's

requirements.

. Handles customer complaints regarding coverage, capacity and quality

issues and providing fast and cost effective solutions.

Project Management

. Perform as a manager / team leader during surveys / site acquisition for

a strategic rollout of sites (GSM & UMTS), considering revenue / market

and technical aspects.

. Processes RNS (Request for New Site) for management approval. Involves

coordination with other company's sections such as Power Section, Civil

Section, Transmission Section (Fiber / Microwave), Coordinator and other

sections.

. Ensure the network design was properly implemented. Thus perform ocular

inspection during implementation / installation.

RF Optimization

. Responsible for Key Performance Indication (KPI) monitoring and

improvement (call success rate, SDCCH and TCH drops and blocks, handover

failures, etc.), including performance deviation during and after

planning/optimization activities.

. Handles BTS parameter modifications, audit, discrepancy check and alarms

monitoring to maintain network effectiveness and stability.

. Performs drive test to validate network quality and coverage status.

. Performs periodic benchmarking drive test in order continuously provide

customer satisfaction and to avoid customer churn.

. Analyze drive test results and perform troubleshooting on areas with poor

coverage and areas with RF problems.

. Performs post processing of drive test data (tool: Actix).

. Cluster optimization and re-planning to further improve service quality

and KPI. This involves reorientation and tilt adjustment of panel

antenna, BTS parameters adjustment and frequency retuning.

. Monitor blocking and congestion by analyzing traffic data for the basis

of troubleshooting, expansion or rollout.

. Performs dominance and frequency planning using prediction tool and drive

test results.

. Recommend strategic rollout of sites, considering revenue / market and

technical aspects.

issues and providing fast and cost effective solutions.

Operation & Maintenance

. Conduct hardware troubleshooting, audit and adjustment (e.g. GSM antenna

expansion of BTS equipment (Nokia)).
