PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
A versatile electronic system technical specialist capable of working alone
and on teams in the design, building, testing, installing, validating, and
maintaining such systems. Have a varied knowledge in electronic parts,
systems, and interfaces with primary experience on SCADA type systems. As a
technician worked with and on flight hardware for spacecraft and aircraft
and in a semiconductor failure analysis lab analyzing CMOS integrated
circuit failures at the die level. Maintenance functions included
troubleshooting and repairing hardware at the system and component levels.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
From 1976 to 2011 worked as core member of a team responsible for all field
work associated with the Launch Processing System, a supervisory control
and data acquisition system, at Kennedy Space Center. Served in this
position as a technician, Field Engineer, Technical Specialist Sr.,
Technical Operations Staff IV and V working for five different companies
that had the engineering and O&M contracts for this work. The companies
were, starting from the most recent, United Space Alliance, Lockheed Space
Operations Company, Grumman Technical Services, Inc, Computer Sciences
Corporation, and Martin Marietta Corporation -Denver Division.
Technical:
. Built up, configured, installed, maintained, modified, refurbished,
and upgraded Hardware Interface Modules (HIMs) that are functionally
similar to PLC devices.
. Installed and maintained data links comprised of fiber optic and
copper links and associated active and passive devices.
. Performed diagnostic, and acceptance testing on HIMs and data links.
. Performed preventative maintenance and calibration on equipment and
systems.
. Proficient in using a variety of test equipment such as oscilloscopes,
DSOs, logic analyzers, signal and arbitrary wave generators, and DVMs.
. Conceived, developed, and implemented plans for solving unique and
intermittent problems. Designed and built test tools and aids for
these efforts.
. Worked with and troubleshot problems on IEEE-488 GPIA buses and MIL-
1553 like buses, on VME type hardware, and on analog and digital
circuits.
. Worked with microprocessors and microcode.
. Assisted in equipment upgrade design efforts by providing
specifications, data, theory, workings, and flaws of original
equipment and enhancement suggestions for the replacement equipment.
. Monitored health, status, and performance of equipment looking for
problems that could impact processing schedules.
. Received various awards related to the above efforts.
Communication:
. Managed installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
. Maintained logs and records to spot unique and reoccurring problems.
. Outlined, developed, and authored testing and troubleshooting plans.
. Authored troubleshooting and job plans using Maximo application
software.
. Summarized and closed work authorizing documents.
. Communicated across departments and organizations the health, state,
and functionality of on-line equipment.
. Coordinated with maintenance team, engineering, and management to get
efforts completed in timely manner.
. Informed engineering counterparts of new issues needing to be
addressed.
. Resolved interface circuit problems with equipment owed by different
departments.
. Collaborated with outside contractors in the designing and building of
hardware.
. Provided class and on the job training.
From 1969 to 1976 worked at Harris Semiconductor, Collins Radio, and
Grumman Aerospace Corporation as an electronic technician.
Technical:
. Proficient in using Tektronix curve tracer, microscopes, and
micromanipulators.
. Worked with chemicals and solvents.
. Worked on production line troubleshooting and repairing avionic sub-
assemblies.
. Ran calibration and diagnostic tests on flight hardware for spacecraft
and F-14s.
. Installed and maintained an early type SCADA system.
