Mangrove sediment analysis by molecular techniques (PCR, TRFLP etc) using a specific
molecular gene for sulfate-reducing bacteria.
Stocking common solutions and reagents.
Use of common laboratory equipment such as an autoclave, centrifuge, incubator, shaker,
hood, thermal cyclers, electrophoresis equipment, and a genetic analyzer by Applied
Biosystems.
Knowledge of laboratory safety measures.
Perform DNA Extractions using DNA MoBio Soil DNA Kit.
Electrophoresis and staining with ethidium bromide.
Amplify DNA by Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR).
Perform Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (TRFLP) Genetic Analysis
on environmental DNA Samples.
Collaboration and training of doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students.
