Description: Today business intelligence is being replaced by web

intelligence, which exploits vast `big' data sources from social media,

mobile devices and sensors. At the same time the database world is

witnessing an evolution towards newer big-data platforms based on the 'map-

reduce' parallel programming paradigm. Online advertising, machine

translation, natural language understanding, sentiment mining, personalized

medicine, and national security are some examples of such AI-based web-

Description: Data analysis is the process of finding the right data to

answer the question, understanding the processes underlying the data,

results to have the biggest possible impact. This course was an applied

statistics course focusing on data analysis. The course began with an

overview of how to organize, perform, and write-up data analyses. Covered

some of the most popular and widely used statistical methods like linear

regression, principal components analysis, cross-validation, and p-values.

Instead of focusing on mathematical details, the lectures were designed to

apply these techniques to real data using the R statistical programming

language, interpret the results, and diagnose potential problems in the

analysis.
