Executive leader during period of huge growth. Revenue went from approximately $3 to almost $10 million a year. During
this time company grew from approximately 30 to over 200 hospitals.
Created support group with diversified responsibilities. Group was consistently rated as providing superior support,
in both quality and comparison to other vendors, based on yearly client satisfaction surveys.
Led support group, managed integration and interface requests and led implementation project management and
training. Consistently delivered results on schedule and within budget.
Led team responsible for product management. Team worked with sales staff making presentations, preparing
RFPs, doing demos - leading to company growth and eventual acquisition.
Managed vendor business partnerships, including 3M HIS and OPTUMInsight. Provided continual access to key
components from competitors needed for ongoing use of solutions, also providing a sizable source of revenue.
Directed all government regulatory releases related to coding and grouping. Released updates prior to deadline
every quarter for the last fifteen years. Developed APC, EAPG, and APR functionality & reporting for all solutions.
Designed best in breed reporting solution for web based software, using SAP Business Objects and Crystal Report
software. Reporting including metrics scorecards, trending reports and a web based dashboard. Primary report
focus was reimbursement, including coding, grouping, and claims data.
Led data warehouse integration projects for multihospital systems, supporting alternate reimbursement modeling.
Led large database load, migration, conversion, and upgrade projects – including conversion and merger of 70+
hospitals into one database, migrations between DBMS’, and projects addressing data quality and data ownership.
Key member of team that led development of web based workflow management, abstracting, deficiency
completion, physician query, clinical documentation improvement, ROI, and computer assisted coding solutions.
Responsibilities included database development and design, with attention to enterprise data and reporting
concerns, and support for new technologies, HIE integration and emerging meaningful use requirements.
Created QA group. Began automated testing. Met goal of 40% reduction in problems reported in annual releases.

Manager of Special Projects 1991 – 1999
Designed client/server HIM abstracting and reporting software solution. Solution led to tremendous growth and
was implemented in approximately 100 hospitals in the first three years following release.
Formulated three tiered reporting solution, (ad hoc, canned reports and a data dictionary to support end user
creation and modification of reports). Reporting continues to be rated superior in client satisfaction surveys.
Designed UB claim scrubber and editor. Successfully implemented solution at 7 acute care hospitals.
Managed implementation of abstracting and coding softwa re at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
Improvement in receivables was credited with taking the hospital from the red to the black .
Ported mainframe software and database to PC. Successfully managed implementation at Hospital of Joint
Diseases.
Led project at GHI to convert reimbursement profiles for use with HSS rate management software. (HSS is now
OPTUMInsight, a division of United Healthcare).
Senior Software Developer / Analyst 1987-1991
Lead engineer for encoding and grouping software, (ICD-9 and CPT coding solution). Even currently these are the
key components of core software products.
Developed software to support multiple inpatient grouper and reimbursement calculation based on insurance .
Solution was used at large multi-facility system for 10+ years to feed reimbursement directly to accounting system.
Modified application environment to support integration with 3M, HSS and QudraMed encoding software,
allowing solutions to work with leading encoder vendors and h ugely opening sales market for company solutions.
Managed and led development and release of CCMS product, which included concurrent management, utilization
review, abstracting, coding, and reporting modules. Product was received very favorably by clients.
Successfully managed on-time and on-budget implementations at large and multi-hospital systems, including
Continuum Health Partners, Sisters of the Third order of St Francis, Emory University, Cedar Sinai Medical Center,
Palomar-Pomerado, East Jefferson Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital of West Palm Beach, and a number
of others.
