Summary
I am a hard-working and motivated individual. I have spent 4 years working at Six Flags Great America as a rides
operator and 3 years at Wendy’s as a crew leader. These experiences allowed me to develop outstanding
communication and interpersonal skills because of the duties I performed at these jobs. I have also built and
maintained computers and have basic programming knowledge. I have long term career goals to further develop these
skills as well as developing my math, GIS, and meteorology skills.
Education
Western Illinois University, Macomb, Il 61455
Graduation: May 2013
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Meteorology
Minor: Geographic Information Systems/Science and Mathematics
Experience
Synoptic Meteorology 1&2: Cyclogenesis, surface observations, weather forecasting, map analysis, upper air analysis
Dynamic Meteorology 1&2: Thermodynamic charts (STUVE, Skew-T), ideal gas law, vorticity, gradients, geostrophic
balance, cloud microphysics.
Principles of Meteorological Instruments: Types of instruments, how they work, data quality control, electric circuits.
Methods of Research: Quantifying and measuring ET for use in thunderstorm forecasting
Environmental GIS: Terrain Analysis, Hydrological Analysis, LULC, DEM, Field/Object based GIS Analysis
Thematic GIS: Census and other social data, data production, Interpolation, Network Analysis, Time in GIS, Terrain
Analysis, Raster and Vector data
Mathematics: Calculus 1, 2, 3, Ordinary Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra
Computer Science: Principals of Computer Science and Java programming
Physics: Motion, Newton's laws, forces, momentum, energy, work, rotation, and simple harmonic motion. Kinetic
theory, thermodynamics, wave motion, sound, optics.
Thematic GIS: Completed a course project which created a model of volcanic ash transportation from a hypothetical
eruption of Mt. St. Helens. This was done by recreating specific atmospheric characteristics in a GIS format
(May attach a copy of the project report if necessary).
Environmental GIS: Completed a course project which compared and analyzed various spatial interpolation methods
(Kriging, IDW, Spline, Natural Neighbor, Trend). The analysis was done both by visually comparison of
outputs as well as statistical methods (May attach a copy of the project report if necessary).
Methods of Research: Completed a research proposal that described a study area, data, methods, and expected results
of quantifying and measuring evapotranspiration. The future work section defined the use of this data which
was to aid in thunderstorm forecasting (May attach a copy of the thesis if necessary).
Technology
Software: Erdas Imagine, ArcGIS, IDV, Minitab, Microsoft Office, Idrisi, JGrasp/Java
**Can quickly learn use of basic electronics such as copiers, fax machines, or other office equipment.
Additional Experience
Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois: Operated rides trained for in a fast, safe, clean, friendly manner to provide
excellent world class service to guests.
Wendy’s, Macomb, Illinois: Crew Leader, did everything to assist with orders and help maintain cleanliness and
business of the store. Also, trained crew members about proper procedures and other techniques to be more
efficient in their work. Assisted manager with manager duties.
Interests
Researching and studying severe weather (tornadoes, hail, lightning), computer hardware/software, learning new
things.
