Major Project
Title: Alternating Scheme for Blood Testing
Role: Team Lead for 4 members
Details: Blood cell analysis is extremely essential to find out the causes of diseases.
Manual evaluation of thin blood smear under microscope is onerous, time
consuming and subject to human error. The automatic analysis has proven to
be comparable with manual evaluation in terms of accuracy. Eventually, this
can be seen as an opportunity for developing low cost solution to blood cell
analysis. The proposed of this work is based on development of image
processing techniques. The images are captured using high resolution digital
camera attached with trinocular microscope. Two main experiments were
implemented in MATLAB on test sets of image of the sample blood. Evaluation
of RBCs, WBCs and platelets using image processing techniques like
enhancement, thresholding and edge detection. The outcome of approach is
shown to be satisfactory for well-stained samples with separated blood cells.
Deliverables: Led the project and coordinated with the Doctor and Laboratory for blood
samples. Implemented the counting of cells using MATLAB's Image Processing
Toolbox. This is used to find out diseases.
