As a Mechanical Engineer, I am responsible for numerous pieces of equipment
in the
manufacturing of large parent roll tissue paper. Duties include
designing,
maintaining and troubleshooting all parts of this specific manufacturing
process.
. Redesigned Thru Air Drier (TAD) side sealing brushes
for ease of replacement and
adjustment. The new design lowered gas consumption for drier
burners.
. Design an auxiliary drive mechanism for the Thru Air
Drier (TAD) that is utilized
during inspections and emergency usage to rotate the TAD at low
speed. This design
is to be utilized on other mills Yankee driers.
. Upgraded the air system that removes water from the
processing felt utilized in
paper making.
. Redesigned paper cutting side squirt mechanism that
allows the employee to safely
interface while the machine is in operation.
. Upgrade various manufacturing support equipment for
reliability and sustainability.
. Currently working on improvements in the Pulp Prep
area to eliminate bale wires from entering process
equipment.

As a Mechanical Engineer, I was responsible for numerous pieces of
equipment in the manufacturing and process of polyurethane foam. Duties
include designing, building, and installation of equipment, along with
continuous improvement projects.
. Redesigned the foam mixing head drive system, which helped to
reduce vibration which increased reliability and maintainability.
. Designed and installed process control measurement systems for the
foam pouring machine.
. Designed a 326 ft. long, 15 conveyor system for moving, positioning
and controlling foam loafs and buns for numerous processes.
. Upgraded the foam cutoff saw by redesigning the blade and drive
system which increased reliability and maintainability.
. Designed and installed a variable blade guard for foam peeling
machines to aid worker safety.
. I was part of a team that redesigned and installed equipment such
as a foam reticulation machine to include material handling, multi-
platen foam presses, and cutoff saws.

I worked as a Mechanical Engineer associated with the Textile Finishing
Department. Duties included upgrading existing equipment and processes
(purchasing and design) to produce a more efficient and robust product.
Some of these projects included modification of slitting machines, design
of PSA application equipment, modification of die cutting machine to
produce 55"+ dia. polishing pads, design and building of an 80" lamination
machine, steel rule and single die cutting tools, implementation of more
efficient product packaging to reduce product damage, modification of
embossing equipment, design of special measurement gauges that were
purchased by Texas Instrument and Intel. I also worked on silicone wafer
template and carrier manufacturing systems to include special tooling,
processes and measurement tools.

As a Mechanical Engineer associated with the Manufacturing Department, my
duties included troubleshooting and evaluation of problems to determine an
optimum solution to design or purchase new equipment. I initiated both new
and modified manufacturing procedures. Some of these projects were:
Babbitt bearings, fixture design, Titanium Nitride tool coatings, synthetic
coolants, CBN cutters, broaching machines and tooling, pipe bending,
induction hardening equipment, infrared heating, deburring, electrostatic
painting, cold air gun, cold sawing, tool crib identification system,
design of large (144") part washing system, and spray metalizing.

I am currently designing and building a 1934 Ford custom street rod to
include complete high performance engine assembly, early warning system
failure sensors, and various challenges associated with building this type

MMI Industries.
