KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Awarded a patent based on Master’s thesis titled ‘Optimization of Compliant Structures for a Novel Car
Seat Concept’. Developed a compliant structure that optimally adapts to the driver’s back without the use of
foam.
Developed spatial stochastic numerical algorithm for the simulation of electrodeposition and achieved a
performance increase of over 100 times by using appropriate mathematical transformations and optimized
data structures.
Performed valuable research in computational algorithms with exposure to human blood coagulation.
Created an analytical GUI tool for biochemical engineers and surgeons to determine optimal intervention
strategies to treat patients with severe hemorrhage by isolating fragile networks of the chemical coagulation
cascade.
Awarded Best Teaching Assistant in 2008 for ME156, Finite Element Analysis.

CURRENT PROJECTS: Project 1 involves stochastic simulations of the early stages of electrodeposition; develop
fast spatial Kinetic Monte Carlo algorithms and investigate crystal formation at the atomic scale; develop
mathematical Monte Carlo models tailored to the problem of electrodeposition. Project 2 involves the simulation
of blood coagulation under different physiological conditions; uses a multi-physics FEM/PDE/ODE approach to
solve fluid flow and chemical reactions. Over 180 species of chemical molecules are involved in over 300
reactions, creating challenges to couple the transport of the molecules to the fluid flow. Currently employing a
genetic optimization algorithm to determine more than 100 unknown parameters.
