My name is Hikeem Washington and I am interested in pursuing career opportunities within your

organization. As an undergraduate student I studied Sociology and Cultural Anthropology at New

Jersey City University. At NJCU my excellent academic record led to my becoming a member of

the National Society of Leadership and Success as a Presidential Scholar. I then went on to study

International Affairs in the Political Science Department at Brooklyn College at the graduate

level.

Outside of academics, I served as an Executive Board Member of a local chapter of the NAACP

for 6 years, simultaneously holding the positions of Chairperson of Education, and Chairperson

of Public Safety. I was the recipient of its Future Leadership Award in the year of 2007.

During the past two years I was a policy analysis protégé for Mrs. Lisette Nieves, President

Obama’s appointee to the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Nieves I analyzed, studied, and wrote policy papers on the

implication of education policy, health care, immigration reform, & indigent populations.

Simultaneously, I served as a Strategic Analytical Consultant for a non- profit organization in

Bronx, New York whose main constituents were the mentally ill and/or homeless. I designed

databases, gathered and analyzed data, consulted on EMR software for compliance with NY

State’s Medicaid/Health Home Laws, and advised on Medicaid/Health Home Compliance.

I am familiar with the MS Office product suite, and my skill level is advanced in MS Excel and

MS Access. I am also familiar with statistics software such as SPSS, & SAS, and NODEXL

which is used for the analysis of networks (social or professional).
