PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Magellan Aerospace Corporation, Haverhill, MA

PROGRAM MANAGER 2013-PRESENT

Major responsibilities include achieving all program milestones using timelines, budgets, and production launch outcomes (capability, rate, etc.) as well as facilitating engineering changes, providing customer support and serving as liaison between the customer and the production teams for the program life.

- Managed the new product introduction for a dozen new product lines through the development, production and run-at-rate stages (Program Revenue Forecast: $0.5B over a 15 year period)

- Performed load-capacity analysis, resource analysis, resource load-leveling analysis, risk management, and workflow management.

- Constructed technical project plans with Microsoft Project 2013 to illustrate scope, time, quality, critical path, resource allocation and scheduling.

Beacon Power Corporation, Tyngsboro, MA

SYSTEMS ENGINEER 2010-2012

Major responsibilities include designing and developing advanced flywheel energy storage systems and services to support stable, reliable and efficient electricity grid operation. Other responsibilities include on site application of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of smart energy matrices tied to the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO).

- Design & Application: Sized air-cooling equipment and provided equipment selection and procurement. Designed mechanical and electric systems, created Bill of Materials (BOMs) for kits and assemblies. Facilitated quality and performance tests for vacuum system applications. Authored numerous procedures for commissioning, operations and preventative maintenance. Designed network diagrams for communication protocol systems. Carried out failure mode analysis and drove root-cause and corrective action for failed componentry. Provided design and hands on support for process plumbing equipment and other ancillary equipment (such as: pumps, VFDs, RTDs, thermostats, valves, heat exchangers, compressors, energy meters, pressure transducers, network switches, protective relays, switch gear, control centers, high and low voltage electronics, power electronics, control modules and diesel generators).

- Air-Cooled Systems: Managed the operation and maintenance of 40, 15-ton air-cooled Legacy chiller systems for a 20MW energy storage facility. Implemented a building automation and control system for remote monitoring and maintenance for the plant’s cooling needs.

- Project Management: Provided hands-on oversight to a team of technicians and engineers in developing, operating, and maintaining a 20MW flywheel facility-the first flywheel energy storage facility in the world (Project Net Cost: $70M). Responsible for the commissioning and shipping of a 1MW smart energy matrix for North Western Energy, Montana (Project Net Cost: $2M)

- Financial Modeling: Utilized an energy modeling software called HOMER to build hybrid energy systems. Analyzed and showed the financial and energy savings through the addition of flywheel energy storage systems for smart grid applications. Presented the findings to the 2011 International Wind-Diesel Workshop in Alaska showing a savings of 0.25M gallons of diesel fuel using flywheels instead of diesel generators.

Premium Power Corporation, North Reading, MA

PROGRAM MANAGER & MECHANICAL ENGINEER 2009-2010

Major responsibilities include managing the design and build of flow batteries for advanced energy storage technology. The propriety technology was aimed to reserve power for electric utility facilities that provide transmission and distribution of energy and provide bulk energy storage for renewable energy applications.

- Design & Application: Sized the air-cooling equipment for the Transflow 2000 flow battery. Utilized Pro/Engineer to design structural systems and assemblies for battery modules. Designed a leg-bracing system for the Transflow 2000 to support a 100k-lb load. Used ANSYS software to perform finite element analysis (FEA) for static and dynamic loads on the TransFlow 2000 battery. Provided operation and maintenance support for the Powerblock 150 flow battery.

- Program Management: Initiated project start-up and keenly oversaw the introduction of Premium Power’s Local Flow energy storage system. Fulfilled key tasks, such as reviewing the design, procuring parts and material, fabricating hardware, and scheduling and coordinating with personnel to guarantee a high-quality and timely product delivery. Constructed technical project plans with Microsoft Project 2007 to provide a schedule and budget to track the program milestones from ground up to the delivery date (Project Net Costs: $0.5M).
