PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO 1997 – 2013
Network Administrator
Responsible to manage a local area network of roughly 1000 nodes and VPN connections from 107 remote
constituency offices and several commissioners’ offices.
• Completed forklift upgrade of the legacy shared hub infrastructure in two phases, the first of which focused on the
core which was initially upgraded to ATM, and later changed to Gigabit Ethernet when the edge was forklifted in
phase two
• Improved remote access for the MPPs through successive technology implementation starting with ISDN,
followed by successful migrations to various VPN technologies including IPSec and now SSL.
• Improved user mobility through the installation of Wi-Fi, incorporating EAP-TLS with PKI to provide the
“Cadillac” security solution for the wireless network
• Built a highly available and secure LAN with multiple redundancies using standards based and proprietary
technologies available in IOS
• Migrated VLANs to firewall switch modules in the core, improving security for the internal users
• Installed out of band management network, improving reliability by enabling remote access to the console ports,
allowing troubleshooting of network problems from offsite, even if network access to the management interface
was down
• Provided support in the rollout of Lync
• Provided subject matter expertise and acted as a technical resource on projects in other areas of the Assembly
while efficiently delivering 3rd and 4th level support on network related issues
• Moved from partner provided support to Cisco Smartnet, improving support services
