Undergraduate Research Assistant – September 2011 – Present
Examined the sub-lethal effects of pesticides on ladybird beetles. Counted eggs
and larvae, learned to identify the gender of the beetles. Mixed and made
pesticides according to a recipe. Maintained plant, aphid, and adult ladybird beetle
colonies. Exposed the insect to pesticides orally, residually, and at different life
stages. Started working with a partner and eventually worked alone for a year.

Fed and maintained health of jumping spiders. Filmed the mating and courtship
behavior of the males when courting a female.
