Engineering Internship January 2013 - Present
• Work with a team of Manufacturing Engineers to keep the production f loor operating optimally to meet
current orders for the Sleep Number bed. Take part in projects focusing on Lean Efficiency.
• Break down sewing/manufacturing processes into SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures). Procedural
steps for each production process are put into a universal Microsoft Word/Visio template along with
supporting pictures to assist operators in clarification of each step. Hold weekly meetings to review and
d iscuss each new SOP that is released.
• Operate independently on projects; regularly delivering completed SOP’s in a timely fashion.
Charleston Southe rn University, North Charleston, SC
Mechanical Engineering Work Study May 2009 - August 2009
• Carried out projects given by supervising engineers for the Physical Plant of Charleston Southern
U niversity.
• Led a campus-wide project to inventory all hazardous materials used in daily operations, and compiled
t hem in an MSDS binder describing any and all hazards and safety precautions/procedures associated with
t hese materials.
• Assisted with putting in work orders into a status updater program.
• Relied upon to research and implement design projects by the given deadlines, worked independently.
Santee Cooper Power Company, Moncks Corner, SC
Summer Student Engineer May 2008 - August 2008
• Worked as a student engineer at Jefferies Generating Station.
• Assisted Plant Engineers with various engineering projects, including conversion of P&ID schematics into
t he latest version of AutoCAD. Formatted and updated them for latest system design modifications (new
p iping, valves, etc.). Assisted Plant Mechanics and Planners with various projects including Cooling Tower
i nspections/maintenance and conducted routine inspections of the Coal Pulverizers and Condensers.
• Instigated and led a project in order to design fully scaled 2-D and 3-D models in AutoCAD for a new A-
frame support bracket needed for the lifting and removing of high-pressure water heater heads.
• Became familiar with welding by hands-on experience with plant mechanics.
