PROJECT CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Design and Estimation of Urban Church Building

This project is about developing and analyzing a conceptual design for an urban church of two

floors with the capacity of 800 people. With 23000 sq.ft surveyed land this structure is to be built

with 10000 sq.ft built-up area with the focus of a 65ftx65ft sanctuary and basic amenities like

pastors’ room, choir room, podium etc. This structure is also built-up with an idea to be used as

auditorium with grid flooring method and extensive set of safety requirements to meet with Indian

Standard Codes. All the design & calculation were carried out and verified to accuracy using AutoCAD

and Staad.Pro.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Data collection and verification of Survey Land.

• Finalized the requirements of structure to match with the National Building Code.

• Plan preparation of the structure in AutoCAD.

• Analysis and optimization of the preliminary design with dead load, live load, and wind

load etc. using Staad.Pro.

• Finalized the manual design of beams, columns, footing etc.

• Costing and estimation of the structure for the current market value.

2. Experimental investigation of elevated temperature effect on concrete containing

supplementary cementitious material

This project is about investigating elevated temperature effect on concrete containing

supplementary cementitious materials like metakaolin, silica fume, fly ash etc. The concrete cubes

were made by mixing of supplementary cementitious material in various percentages of replacement

to cement. Compressive strength values for the units were tested on normal temperature and

elevated temperature and concluded that the regular mix scores better.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Concrete mixing and molding for various shapes and as cubes, cylinders

• Partial replacement of concrete mixing with metakaolin, silica fume and fly ash.

• Identifying the level of strength of ordinary concrete and partially replaced concrete at

both normal temperature and at elevated temperature.

3. In-plant training

RAILNET Software Solutions provides various computerized solutions for Madurai Railway Division.

This program includes the study of railway data network and functionality of components used. It

also includes the software packages and network gargets used in passenger reservation system,

interactive voice response system, coach display system etc. Studies were made on track circuiting,

data logger and the management of route relay interlocking.
