Research Experience
Project 1: Vehicle Battery Management
University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, USA
Lead Research Assistant: Advanced Battery Concepts and Crown Battery, July
2011-May 2013
Introduction to project: The purpose of this project was to develop a more
efficient way to charge vehicle lead acid batteries. An additional goal
was to avoid warranty returns.
. Researched the need for a more efficient and low cost monitor for lead
acid battery
. Developed a monitor to record battery data while battery is charging
or discharging
. Monitor made battery lifetime longer
. Ensured the Microcontroller (MCU), Real Time Clock (RTC), and memory
storage device recorded accurate information
. Designed LED light to remind user to trickle charge battery
. Designed PCB for the project
. Presented thesis defense and was granted approval
. Technologies for this project include: DC-DC Converter, SPI, Senor,
RS232, Voltage Follower, Voltage Level Shifter, Gerber File, and N-MOS
Project 2: Pressure Control System
University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, USA
Lead Research Assistant: Course Project
Introduction to project: This project was intended to keep the pressure in
a certain range by controlling the opening and closing of valves based on
the amount of pressure.
. Used microcontroller to control pressure
. Designed a system to read pressure values every 3 seconds and send
data to control unit
. Implemented a control feature to sound an alarm if pressure is too
high or low
. Ensured the control unit could accurately report the number of open
valves
. Used CAN to communicate with 2 nodes
. Technologies for this project include: C language, pressure sensors,
USART and DAVE
Internships
Power Electronics Company, Shijiazhuang, 2009~2010
. Communicated with group members to have more ideas
. Assisted engineers to design products, such as schematic, hardware and
simulation
. Selected semiconductor for low frequency (10 kHz) rectifier, such as
SCR.
Awards & Scholarships
. First-class Scholarship, YAN SHAN University, 2006~2010
