Senior Capstone Design: Small, Versatile Surveillance Unmanned Aerial System
• Researched, developed, analyzed and designed an UAS to fulfill the proposal generated by the Department of Homeland
Security (Fall 2012).
• Designed and Implemented a 35-pound, 20 hr. endurance UAS to detect, identify and track illegal aliens and illicit drug traffic
with the purpose of strengthening U.S Border Security.
• Explored and facilitated transportation, portability and convenient storage with an UAV capable of rapid disassembly.
• Investigated and provided different launch and recovery systems of the vehicle to use in unimproved or unrestored areas of the
country.
• Conducted structural testing and led wind tunnel testing of a 1:5 model of the vehicle.
