MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

MX MISSILE

Successfully designed Defense Suppression System of the MX Missile (Finite element

vibration and stress analyses, MSC/NASTRAN, SDRC/Supertab & Geomod, ANSYS,

Martin Marietta Aerospace).

PC BOARDS FOR CANNON BULLETS

Designed a set of PC boards used inside the cannon BULLET for its guidance-system that

can withstand 12,000 G's. It was very difficult to design these due to the size and design

requirements (Finite element stress and vibration analyses, Martin Marietta Aerospace,

Project: CopperHead).

PATENT

Invented a special rotor-centering spring that saved an aircraft gas turbine engine (MPSPU)

from repeated failures. A patent has been submitted to the Patent Department of the Allied-

Signal Aerospace Company and is pending.

CYCLIC SYMMETRIC VIB ANALYSIS OF BLADED DISKS

Created a 3D continuous solid model (with brick elements only) of EFA Compressor blade

and a slice of the disk with identical node locations for repeatable side one and side two.

The finite element code NASTRAN, which is very strong in cyclic symmetric static and

vibration analyses capabilities was utilized.

DEVELOPED COMPUTER PROGRAMS

Developed two computer programs, e.g., FREQUENCY RESPONSE ANALYSIS and

TRANSIENT RESPONSE ANALYSIS of three dimensional general systems that can have

damping, gyroscopic or coriolis forces, and circulatory forces.

Wrote a Fortran computer code MMIAS to calculate the mass and inertia properties of any

general axisymmetric solid that can have cross section with void areas. The program is now

a part of Garrett (Allied-Signal) Stress Library for general use.

Developed computer programs using Direct Matrix Abstraction Programming (DMAP) of

NASTRAN.
