Applied Materials AKT, Santa Clara: Industry leader in Chemical Vapor Deposition [CVD] systems used

• Outsource Team Member: In 2008, Applied began moving its manufacturing capabilities from

Santa Clara to Taiwan. Traveled to Taiwan to train personnel and eventually transferred two

Project Manager positions to Taiwan in a seamless transition.

• Systems Project Manager [2011 to 2012]: Direct report to Sales and Operations Planning

Manager. Reengineered, improved and managed the Ship Authorization business process.

Quickly identified audit anomaly requiring major metrics adjustments and buy-in from regional and

top-level managers. Smoothed workflow and reduced process time 25%, saved 10% labor year

over year. Monitored, communicated, and drove key milestones to insure timely revenue

recognition, contributing to the 100% on-time shipping collective efforts. Captured and

• In both positions, interfaced with Applied’s global workforce [Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, and

Santa Clara] in marketing, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, finance, and

Sieger Engineering, South San Francisco: Outsource Supplier for Applied Materials assemblies used

in the semi-conductor and display industries [$50k-$350k/assembly]. Sieger was acquired by Ultra Clean

Technologies in 2006.

• Project Manager [2000-2005]: Responsible for maintaining integrity of customers’ bills of

materials, implementing engineering and material changes into the manufacturing process, and

transitioning customer prototypes to production. Communicated updates and actions with

customer, supply chain, machine shop, inventory, logistics and production floor.

• Successfully exceeded customer expectations, as a result, was hired by Applied Materials 2006.

PROJECT FINANCE / CAPITAL MARKETS [8 years]

Praesum Investments, San Francisco

• Vice President [1988-1994]: Co-founded project finance firm that placed project financing for

developers/owners of cogeneration power plants. Provided customized project memorandum

packages for initial investor/lender review. Designed comprehensive spreadsheet-based financial

simulation models for various capitalization scenarios that quantified project cash flow and

identified risks/rewards for owners, lenders, contractors, and respective legal counsel, starting

from project incubation through closing. Active participant in all phases of negotiations.

• Successfully placed term financing for Carson Energy, a $104M [2012 dollars] for a 44 Megawatt

gas-fired cogeneration facility, 100% leverage lease: PruCaptial & Westinghouse. Success Fee

Basis $1M.

• Delivered $500K consulting engagement to Owl Energy Resources assisting with the

development of a 25 Megawatt waste wood facility.

Well Fargo Capital Markets, San Francisco

• Business Analyst [1986-1988]: Authored financial analyses of existing and potential Wells Fargo

clients considering M&As, LBOs, and divestitures in the range of $10M to $100M for a wide range

of industrial clients from agribusiness to power producers, from privately held to Fortune 2000.

Analyses encompassed industry overview, management/owner profile, capital structure,

operations, cash flow, and risk analysis/mitigation. Designed customized cash flow simulation

models for various capitalization scenarios. Worked closely with owners, financiers, legal counsel,

and senior management.

• Invited to co-found Praesum Investments by Wells Fargo SVP.

PROJECT ENGINEERING [5 years]

Exxon USA: Senior Engineer [1979-1984]

• Los Angeles: Prudhoe Bay Alaska is a multiple lease owned oil reservoir [Exxon, Arco, BP,

Chevron, Phillips, Mobil]. Owners collaboratively operate the reservoir to responsibly extract and

maximize the total field oil/gas production over the life of the reservoir. Reserve calculations

under each lease, performed by Reservoir Engineers, determine the allocation of production to

each owner. The Final Reserves Determination, a multi-corporate engineering and negotiated

effort, calculated and set the allocation for the life of the reservoir.

o Reservoir Engineer: Represented Exxon’s interest on various Prudhoe Bay multi-

corporate task forces to analyze and insure integrity of wellbore data and come to

negotiated agreement by all task force members. This data was used to populate a

common wellbore database used by all owners to eventually calculate the reserves of

Prudhoe Bay Alaska.

o The Final Determination collective efforts increased Exxon’s reserve allocation by $1B.

• Ventura: Reservoir and Subsurface Engineer: Improved production surveillance of Exxon’s

Wilmington Townlot Unit [300+ wells], brought 20 non-performing wells back to production.

Innovatively reduced O&M, reduced worst case well from 9 failures/yr to 1 failure/yr, saving

$100K/yr for that singular well. Implemented field wide and reduced O&M cost by $5M per year.
