SOUTHWEST ASIA CYBER CENTER FORWARD (SWACC FWD), AFGHANISTAN
Information Systems Engineer Chief 2013–Present
Provide strategic oversight and direction to a team responsible for supporting multiple users consisting approximately 81,000 computers and 189,491 users on the NIPR, SIPR, and CENTRIXS (Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System) networks. Take full responsibility in managing all enterprise networks, including 38 data centers and technical control facilities, 77 Promina multiplexers, 134 Cisco ASA firewalls, 67 transport or top level architecture (TLA) stacks, 98 security and access routers, 186 intrusion detection systems/ intrusion prevention systems, 2,530 servers (including AD, DNS, SCCM/SCOM but not including virtualized), a vast active directory (AD) structure, and multiple voice (both Hard-line/PBX and VoIP), with a total of 71,913 voice lines.
- Rendered leadership and operational guidance to the southwest Asia Networks Operations Security Center, while managing daily operations of the regional centers within southwest Asia
- Supervised and maintained real-time visibility of the area of operations for instant isolation and diagnostics
REGIONAL NETWORK OPERATION SECURITY CENTER (RNOSC), AFGHANISTAN AND KUWAIT
Chief Watch Officer 2005–2012
Led the execution of Kuwait and Afghanistan regional network operations and security centers. Supervised more than 20 direct reports and staff across various functions, including network operations, monitoring, outage detection, recovery, and support. Directed a team responsible for the design of Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) for United States ARCENT Headquarters Forward, enabling the organization to communicate with “down range” commanders while in secondary operation site. Master-planned the centralization of help desk in Kuwait.
- Coordinated project by overseeing the development and implementation of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) for all southwest Asia regional security centers, outlining policies and procedures for network operations in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan
- Managed a team that redesigned the Army TIER 1 Firewalls rule sets; thereby maintaining DoD Security Technical Implementation Guide compliance
- Provided oversight to a team in charge of the Bluecoat devices and WebSense servers for Kuwait as well as BlackCore installation in Kuwait
- Facilitated training of over 1100 employees to become compliant with the DoD 8570.1M standards within 120 days
Middle East Remote Area Communications Site Lead 2003–2005
Took charge of overseeing more than 50 direct report technicians to provide technical input on WAN/LAN, voice, help desk, VTC, microwave, OSP, and TCF operations and maintenance for Camp Victory, Camp Virginia, and Camp Buehring Kuwait. Established a productive environment to enhance customer experience by systematizing network operating policies and procedures.
Camp Victory:
- Standardized help desk procedures for tracking the workflow of computer baselines for rotational United States Armed Forces
- Implemented training procedures, expediting new employees and soldiers integration into site operations in 30 days after arrival on site
- Transitioned two communications centers from tactical configurations to semi-permanent facilities with only two hours of downtime
Camp Buehring:
- Successfully accelerated configuration cycle computers in the network from 5 days to 24 hours
- Automated the documentation system for Human Resources, which reduced employee’s request processing time due to distance, corrections, limited mailing capabilities, and loss/delayed documents in transit
- Built project management team for new installations and upgrades to existing network camp infrastructure
Camp Virginia:
- Strategically designed and developed fail-over plan for voice communications; thereby allowing users on the camp to receive “dial tone” from two other remote camps
