Career Objective: To obtain a full-time research position in a field related to biochemistry or biotechnology
Education:
Master of Science in Biochemistry, October 2013 (expected)
Texas State University, San Marcos, TX
Master’s Thesis: “Pegylation of Chitosan for Functional Gene Silencing”
Advisor: Dr. Walter E. Rudzinski
Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology, July 2009
B.M Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering, Bangalore, Karnataka, India
Undergraduate research: “Validation of SSR markers for aroma in rice genotypes”
Advisor: Dr. Savithri Bhat
Research Experience:
Research Assistant, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Texas State University, January, 2011- Present
Adviser: Dr. Walter E. Rudzinski
Research Focus: Reduce the expression of the beta-catenin protein using pegylated chitosan as a delivery vector in colon cancer cells. For this purpose I have synthesized copolymers of chitosan with poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG), used them to form nanocomplexes with siRNA, and evaluated their effect on protein expression using colon cancer cells.
Independent Study Research, Department of Biotechnology
B.M. Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering, February, 2009- May- 2009
Advisor: Dr. Savithri Bhat
Research Focus: Identifying molecular markers for indirect selection of aroma trait in rice. For this purpose rice varieties were screened with SSR markers for aroma using PCR and Agarose gel electrophoresis.
