Profile :

Oman Oil Refineries And Petroleum Industries Company.(Oman)

The plant will be constructed pursuant to a single LSTK contract by GS

Engineering & Construction (GSEC) of Korea. The plant will principally utilize

technology licensed by Axens. The technology licensed by Axens is well proven

in many commercial applications.

The plant entails, construction, commissioning and operation of a petrochemical

complex for the production of aromatics, namely 819,000 tpa of Paraxylene (PX)

and 210,000 tpa of Benzene (BZ) which are used to produce a wide range of

petrochemical intermediaries.

The feedstock to the plant is straight run naphtha which will be received from

Sohar Refinery and the balanced will be imported form abroad.

Reliance's Jamnagar manufacturing complex is the first fully integrated

manufacturing complex in the world to house a Petroleum refinery complex,

Petrochemical complex, a Power generation complex, a port & terminal complex

and pipeline network having ISO:9001:2000, ISO14001:2000 & OHSAS:18001

certified company & high standard in Heath, Safety & Environment as per British

Safety Council & Shell standard.

The refinery having processing capacity of 33 MMTPA of crude is the world's

largest grassroots refinery.

The refinery complex besides having the primary processing units CDU/VDU,

includes secondary processing units like FCC, COKER, Hydrotreater units,

Sulphur recovery plant & an Aromatics Complex. The Crude complex of the

refinery has two identical trains each designed to process 650000 BPSD of crude

oil.

Unit Profile :

Extractive Distillation Unit

Extraction of Benzene from non-aromatics by solvent name Sulfolane.

Producing cyclohexane grade benzene (99.99%).1300 MTPD. Vaccum column operation

for avoiding degradation of Sulfolane.

Cooling Tower (Induced Draft-with 10 nos of cells)

- Around 25,000 M3/Hr. cooling Water circulation flow with use of 07 nos

of HT motor multistage centrifugal pumps (5500 m3/hr.)

- Using following chemicals for dozing various type of treatment.

Chlorine gas Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bromide, Soda ash, Calcium

Chloride - As a Biocide & anti foaming agent.

Parex Unit

4600 TPD (03 Trains of same capacity).

Three Parex Units in Aromatic Complex which are Integrated with Xylene

fractionation & Isomer Units, Forming a train. Parex Unit recovered P-X From

mixed xylenes obtained after reforming special cut Naphtha.

Selective adsorption of P-X is effected by UOP Sorbex Process to produce P-X with

a purity of 99.8 % by using selective Adsorption of PX on Molecular of solid

adsorbent (ADS-37), a X-type Zeolitic material(Alumina silicate) & the subsequent

Desorption of P-X by suitable desorbent of Para Diethyl benzene (D-1000) & a flow

directing device called the Coplanar Manifolding Indexer (CMI) or Rotary valve.

Adsorption Chamber Control System Controlling the total adsorption process by

Continues counter current circulation.

Xylene Fractionation Unit

The Xylene column consists of 195 MD Trays equipped online gc &

balanced draft bottom fired heater with APH,FD & ID Fan. Over head vapour is

provides reboiler duty to Raffinate /Extract/DRC column's reboilers of Parex

Unit.

Xylene Fractionation Column:- Operating Pressure 8.5 kg/cm2g & Temp.236/296 C

Reboiler Capacity:- 83.1 Mmkcal/hr.24 combination burners.

Isomer Unit

The function of Isomer unit of Parex train is to Convert a mixture of C8

aromatics deficient in P-X to near equilibrium mixture of C8 aromatics by using

rich H2 gas & I-300 catalyst.

NATURE OF JOB:

As a part of operation group of Aromatics, I am responsible for smooth &

safe plant operation. Unit consists of following sections.

Fired heater operation

Preheat exchangers

Distillation column operation

Centrifugal compressor

Steam & condensate system

Cooling tower operation

Adsorption chambers operation (molecular sieve)

Isomer / Xymax reactor operation

Clay treater operation

Centrifugal & reciprocating pumps operation

CURRENT JOB RESPONSIBLITY:

Continuous monitoring of throughput

Continuous vigilance in the field by taking round at regular interval.

Note down field reading and cross checking the same with DCS.

Pump changeover /isolation for maintenance.

Monitoring of rotating equipment like pumps,compressor.finfan condenser,ID/FD

fan of balanced draft heater for smooth operation

Checking of firebox and burner flame pattern, burner change over, soot blowing

of heater.

Ensuring all standby pumps are in healthy & warmed up condition.

Maintain the record for the future /past shutdown jobs.

Ensuring strict compliance with safety procedures and relevant work permit

systems.

Check lube oil/seal system and oil level in reservoir in gas compressor.

Proper housekeeping to ensure clean and safe work area.

BSC checklist fill up and safety audits.

Other jobs instructed by shift in charge.

Punch points list out and rectification as per P & IDs.

Took Training on DCS of Parex Plant (Foxboro) in Reliance Ind. Ltd, India.

I have experience in startup and normal shutdown of the unit. I have also

tackled emergency successfully several times in my plant.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENT:

Involved in ADSORBENT CHAMBER reloading SIX SIGMA project, completion days ahead

of schedule 04 days(45 days scheduled) in Reliance Industries Ltd.

Involved in Xylene column decontamination with TERA-CHEM group in Reliance

Industries Ltd.

Involved in value maximization project of PAREX UNIT, capacity 3600TPD to 5000

TPD of Pera xylene in Reliance Industries Ltd.
