WORK EXPERIENCE
Process Improvement Engineer
Ross Discount Stores Moreno Valley, CA 3/2013-8/2013
. Worked on a project to increase the capacity of Put To Light system
(PTL). Instituted 2 packers per zone
methodology (without zones split) which resulted in 50 % improvement to
throughput, 75 % reduction in
lane full, 15% reduction in re-circulation rate and an increase in
cubing of the boxes ($250K savings).
DMAIC principles were used to complete this project.
. Further savings from this project were partial taping of vendor boxes
that were pushed out from the zones
(annual savings of $75K), placing 2-3 vendor boxes/cart (annual savings
of $20K), redesign of the packers
cart (permanent 5S location for scanners, tape holders etc.).
. Performed new store slotting for PTL and Tilt Tray system on a quarterly
basis. Also, created a new staffing
Tool for PTL system.
Senior Industrial Engineer

10/2012
. Maintained and updated labor standards in Red Prairie System. Created new
flow charts and job codes
for new processes.
. Performed storage analysis for new accounts that were either accommodated
in existing fulfillment centers or
designed layouts for new fulfillment centers including project
management, procurement of equipment, vendor selection and supervised
installation of equipment.
. Provided TMUs using MOST for potential new accounts for costing purposes.
Worked closely with Program
Managers in providing labor and start up estimates for new
distribution centers for new accounts.
Senior Industrial Engineer/Project Manager
8/2007-10/2011
Amazon.com Seattle, WA
. Managed a project that involved designing a new 320,000 Sq. Ft
Fulfillment center in Las Vegas, it had
a budget of $3.2M. Was responsible for design, capacity and storage
studies, RFP's for Material
Handling and storage, CAR (Capital Authorization Request), selection of
vendors, installation of all
MHE and storage equipment, managing of the budget (project cost were 3%
under budget).
. Managed a project that involved designing a new non sort 520,000 Sq. Ft.
Fulfillment center in Goodyear AZ.
It had a budget of $6.5M and was completed one week under the deadline.
Was responsible for design, capacity and storage studies, RFP's for
Material Handling and storage, CAR (Capital Authorization Request),
selection of vendors, installation of all MHE and storage equipment,
managing of the budget.
. Decommissioned 1.8M sq. ft of fulfillment centers, ranging from 75K sq.
ft to 650K sq. ft, tasks included teardown of material handling and
storage equipment, preparing RFP, maintaining project schedule in MS
Project and brought the buildings to return to lease condition.
. Owned the whole program for workstations and carts for the worldwide
Amazon network. Maintained a catalogue of 92 workstations and carts. Was
the project lead in investigation, prototyping and release of new
workstations and carts.
. Developed and updated capacity plans for 6 fulfillment centers.
. Was the project lead for upgrading the Material Handling and Storage
capacities for 4 existing
Fulfillment centers. It had a budget of $1.4M.
Senior Industrial Engineer
10/2005-08/07
Jabil Inc. Saint Petersburg, FL
Was the program manager for Sensus business unit. Was responsible for
liaison with design and
manufacturing group, managing all aspects for acquiring the business
(test engineering, assembly,
planning, training). Sensus did select Jabil and the Chihuahua, Mexico
was the selected site.
Led a team of Industrial engineers for RPTV (Rear Projection TV) line
layout in Chihuahua, Mexico.
The 10 month ($1.5M) project involved design of the layout, design
reviews, MOST analysis, PFMEA,
Headcount and capacity plans, bottleneck or Takt time, vendor selection,
procurement of equipment,
Installation of a new line layout and post install support.
. Supported RFID group with RFID related deliverables, process mapping,
benchmarking, ROI studies,
Process measurement. Also was heavily involved in the assessment of Gen 2
RFID gate which included
gate demo, test and data gathering.
. Participated in DFA (Design For Assembly) activities with values
engineering team, used an In-House
tool to conduct DFA analysis.
. Set up an Ergonomic reference document to be used for designing layouts,
the documentation covered
Cumulative trauma disorders, anthropometry, NIOSH lifting guide and Snook
material handling tables.
Process Engineer
8/1998-10/05
Dell Computer, Computer Manufacturer, One Dell Way, Round Rock, TX. 78682.
. Developed capacity and Headcount plans for Returns and order fulfillment
operations and updated them on a quarterly basis.
