Description :High intensity discharge lamps are used for urban street
lights are based on the principal of gas discharge, thus intensity is not
controllable by any voltage induction method as discharge path is broken
. White light emitting diode can be replacing the HID lamps where intensity
control is possible by pulse width modulation. The intensity control helps
in saving energy in late nights while traffic density is low. Programmable
micro controller is engaged to provide different intensity at different
time of late night for saving energy.
