Department of Chemistry
Solved a failed total synthesis project proposed in 1998 and developed a
general “3+1” synthetic methodology for carbachlorins (Potential
photosensitizers for photodynamic tumor therapy). Synthesized a novel
carbachlorin and a related chlorinated carbachlorin. Fulfilled the related
synthesis of a chlorinated tetrahydrobenziporphyrin using the same
methodology.
Investigated protonation, metallation and alkylation of the synthesized
carbachlorins by NMR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and HPLC-MS.
Synthesized five new carbachlorinoids in this process, including three metal
complexes.
Synthesized three new core-modified porphyrins. Opened a gate for further
studies of core-modified porphyrin systems.
Purified the crude products by using techniques such as distillation,
chromatography, recrystallization, etc. Studied the spectroscopic properties of
the purified compounds through various techniques, including NMR, UV-Vis
spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, etc.
Learned solid knowledge in inert atmosphere techniques, vacuum techniques
and glove box techniques.
East China University of Science and Technology Shanghai, China
Department of Fine Chemicals 07/08-06/09
Completed Bachelor of Engineering dissertation in Key Labs of Advanced
Materials of the Ministry of Education of China. Dealt with the syntheses,
polymerization and characterization of a series of new fluoride chemsensors.
East China University of Science and Technology Shanghai, China
University Student Renovation Project 11/07-05/08
Expressed and purified recombinant DHFR (Dihydrofolate Reductase) of
plasmodium. Set up a platform for screening a series of small molecule
compounds as DHFR inhibitors.
