EXPERIENCE
Aug’13
P2S Engineering, Inc., Electrical Design Engineer Intern
o Design of single line diagrams for power distribution systems and review electrical CAD plans
o Switchgear panel boards design, panel writing, estimate, testing and commissioning for distribution board
Defense Research and Development Establishment, Research Intern Feb’12
Replaced the current transformer by a magnetic field sensing coil and discovered fault locations in the power
transmission system. The sensors allow the monitoring of the transmission line condition using a collective quantity
Jul’11
SASTRA University, Research Assistant
Explored the ways to reduce the harmonics, enhance the controllability and increase power transfer capability of the
power electronic system using Flexible Alternating Current Transmission (FACTS) devices
Jul’10
Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Summer Intern
Learnt about manufacturing of the GLS, CFL, Incandescent lamps and their various characteristics in the
Engineering Services Department
Jan’10
Surya Roshni Limited, Trainee
Gained an insight on how to improve power factor of fluorescent lamps which have negative resistance
characteristics using electronic ballast
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY, Dept. of ECE, Boston, USA Apr’13
Simulation and Setup of a Solar Energy and Diesel Generator based Microgrid:
o Consisted of the design of a Microgrid with two Distributed Generation Sources
o Determined the optimal size of the solar panel using solar irradiance data and determined optimal usage models
for urban, suburban and rural areas, providing Control Laws. (Advisor: Professor Brad Lehman)
IEEE 118 bus system design: Designed an optimally robust and economical model for the IEEE 118 bus system
for contingency case of a measurement lost using the Topological approach and Numerical approach. The system
was also checked for its Network Observability using MATLAB code (Advisor: Professor Ali Abur)
Power System Fault Analysis: Determined the types of unbalanced faults that give the highest per unit voltage in a
case study in Power World Simulator (Advisor: Professor Sarma Mulukutla)
Power Education Toolbox (PET): Designed an optimized set for the least number of power flows, power
injections and voltage measurements for the IEEE 14 bus system using the Power Education Toolbox
SASTRA UNIVERSITY, Dept. of EEE, Tanjore, India Jun’12
Design of Hybrid Active Power Filter for Current harmonic reduction
o Reduced harmonics & Performed Power quality improvement of Grid Connected Systems using FACTS devices
o Employed Synchronous Rotating reference frame or d-q method to control the strategy of active power filter
o Checked the effect on THD and current harmonics for imbalances in load by adding another non-linear load
