Trained for a cumulative 6 months as a Tour of Duty on Training Ship Empire State. The first 45
days I worked as a wiper, and maintained the cleanliness of the engine room as well as common
spaces. During the second 45 days I worked as an oiler, maintaining equipment as well as
supervised the wipers. For the last 90 days I worked as a Junior Engineer and operated (2) 900
psi Foster Wheeler type D boilers, as well as 2 General Electric Impulse type steam turbines.
Also operated all auxiliary machinery to complete the steam cycle. (ie..Air Ejectors, Condensers,
Oil Purifiers, and Pumps.) Experienced in operation and in overhaul of pumps, motors, blowers
and fans.
