Plastics are major waste generators around the world including Jordan. My efforts concentrated on
recycling a well known type of thermoplastics; PMMA (poly methyl methacrylate) using optimized
chemical approaches. These efforts consisted of two main parts: First, decomposing the solid waste
(polymer) into its monomer (MMA) using simple distillation. The second part was converting the
monomer to the original polymer using free radical bulk polymerization.
