PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES:
City of Hope National Medical Center & Beckman Research Institute-Duarte, CA
Research Fellow to Staff Scientist 2005 – Present
My research focuses on the discovery of anticancer drugs and identification of molecular
mechanism of drug action. Discoveries include: 1) Retinoic Acid increased uptake Antisense
Oligonucleotides through endosome pathway; 2) Baicalein upregulates DDIT4 expression
which mediates mTOR inhibition and growth inhibition in cancer cells. Manuscript is ready for
submit.
I have finished one project investigating miRNAs function in breast cancer cells. Discoveries
include: 1) Transforming growth factor-b regulates the sphere-initiating stem cell-like feature
in breast cancer through miRNA-181 and ATM; 2) Context-dependent bidirectional regulation
of the mutS homolog 2 by transforming growth factor β contributes to chemoresistance in
breast cancer cells. Another project focused on molecular mechanism of the incidence of
Marek’s Lymphoma and found: 1) BG1 gene from MHC Loci has a major role in MHC-linked
resistance to malignant lymphoma; 2) Characteristics of BG1 in the incidence of tumor under
the virus infection.
