RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Project: Crosslinking thermoplastic elastomers by electron beam (Industry Sponsored Project)
• Cross-linking styrenic block copolymers (SBCs) by electron beam (E-beam) radiation.
Investigated the effect of E-beam on mechanical, viscoelastic, thermal properties and
morphology of SBCs via GPC, NMR, FT-IR, DSC, TGA, DMA, AFM, optical microscope
and Instron electromechanical test.
• Investigated the E-beam radiation cross-linking mechanism of SBCs, as well as
homopolymers of polyisoprene and polybutadiene.
• Screened E-beam sensitizers (pro-rads) for styrene- block-isoprene/butadiene-block-styrene
(S-I/B-S). Found optimum pro-rads for S-I/B-S to crosslink at lower E-beam radiation dose.
Project: UV-curable polyurethane coatings for wire-end anticorrosion application
(Industry Sponsored Project)
• Synthesis UV-curable urethane oligomers and reactive diluents
• Formulating dual curing UV curable coatings
• Investigating UV curing process by photo-DSC
Project: Synthesis and formulation of UV-curable imide oligomers for coating application
(Ohio Third Frontier Project)
1
• Synthesis UV-curable imide oligomers and formulating with reactive diluents for coating
application. Investigated UV-curing kinetics via photo-DSC and real-time FT-IR and
evaluated the coating properties
• Synthesis and evaluating polyimide and bismaleimide for high temperature coatings
Project: Synthesis silica particles with low surface energy
• Synthesis and surface modification of silica particles by Sol-Gel chemistry
Project: Fabrication and characterization of high dielectric constant and high energy density
polymer based films
• Fabrication epoxy based multilayer capacitor films with high energy density and electrical
breakdown strength
• Prepared and studied high dielectric constant poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) based films
with carbon fiber and ceramic particles( BaTiO3)
ACTIVITIES
